horizontal line

Featured Replies

I have a horizontal line like the one in the pic below that keep showing up. They appear, from any cockpit view or spot, and remain in the same position. To clarify. The line comes onscreen and stays straight, but descends, ascends, banks with the plane..as if it's attached.I just noticed if I take my screen to full back to windowed mode, while flying with the line showing, it will disappear.. I had deleted my fs9.cfg file and let it rebuild itself. Then I changed a few of the lines in the cfg. TEXTURE_BANDWIDTH_MULT=240[TERRAIN]TERRAIN_ERROR_FACTOR=65.000000TERRAIN_MIN_DEM_AREA=10.000000TERRAIN_MAX_DEM_AREA=100.000000TERRAIN_MAX_VERTEX_LEVEL=20TERRAIN_TEXTURE_SIZE_EXP=8TERRAIN_AUTOGEN_DENSITY=2TERRAIN_USE_GRADIENT_MAP=1TERRAIN_EXTENDED_TEXTURES=0TERRAIN_DEFAULT_RADIUS=9.500000TERRAIN_EXTENDED_RADIUS=4.500000TERRAIN_EXTENDED_LEVELS=4The 1st 3 lines can be changed from within FS. TEXTURE_MAX_LOAD=512 this line can be changed from within FS.I had did some changes to a few panels and messed up my Cessna panels to a point I can't get them back to default. I have them close I think. I haven a 2 geforce 7600 gt cards set up on sli. I'm using the 93.71 driver. I was told by a tech at Nivdia that 93.71 was the best for this particular card.If anyone can help me with this, or tell me how to get the Cessna's out of the installation discs. I would appreciate it. Photo below...line comes up on a few planes I have tried. Always in the same spot, from any veiw. It moves up and down as I climb or descend. The line will disappear for a while if I change planes, or restart FS. I hope someone can give me some good advice.

Hi,I have a 21" Viewsonic CRT.There are 2 of those lines. One is 1/3rd, down from the top, the other 2/3rds from the top. But, they should be almost invisible.Do you have a CRT monitor?** This, in my case is the Tech'ie anwser:This is a property inherent to this type of CRT. Damper wires are required to maintain the aperture grille's alignment and will cast a shadow on the screen. In most applications these lines will blend into the background, but they will be visible against lightly-colored screens. They are thinner than human hair.

Hi Vonmar, I have a LG 22" widescreen flat-panel LCD monitor W2241T. This is the first times I've had the problem with any app. Monitor is relatively new. I had to change something, but I can't figure out what is is. Something from within the game itself has changed. I forgot to mention earlier that I had defragged the fs2004 folder with Game Booster from IBOT.. I hate to have to reinstall this fs...allot of time in this one...lol :(

My only other thought would be to run the Windows graphics tests (various tests at various resolutions) or tests provided by your monitor company. Just maybe, there is a failure in the monitor electronics?

I don't think it is a Monitor fault. FS9 is the only application I'm getting it on. It's a setting or one of the items in fs itself. I just have to find the right one. I did notice if I hit alt alt enter, to a full window, and go back to windows mode, the line goes away. Thanks for the responses. I will run some tests on my monitor.

Ok,Just FS9.So, same also with all aircraft, like default MSFS Cessna?

Hi vonmar, Maybe it was a combination of fs9, and my video driver. Plus I had my system overclocked 5 %. I reinstalled the video driver, and reset. I reinstalled some of the default planes I got from CD 1, thanks to Opa's help. I stopped overclocking my sys. FS9 won't create the line again now..Hopefully I fixed it. Sometimes in my haste to make FS better, I mess it up instead.. :( Version 5.1.2600 Service Pack 3 Build 2600OS Manufacturer Microsoft CorporationSystem Name HOME-328B68B5E7System Manufacturer System manufacturerSystem Model System Product NameSystem Type X86-based PCProcessor x86 Family 15 Model 35 Stepping 2 AuthenticAMD ~2211 MhzBIOS Version/Date Phoenix Technologies, LTD ASUS A8N-SLI DELUXE ACPI BIOS Revision 1805, 9/29/2006SMBIOS Version 2.3Windows Directory C:\WINDOWSSystem Directory C:\WINDOWS\system32Boot Device \Device\HarddiskVolume2Locale United StatesHardware Abstraction Layer Version = "5.1.2600.5512 (xpsp.080413-2111)"User Name HOME-328B68B5E7\museTime Zone Eastern Daylight TimeTotal Physical Memory 2,048.00 MBAvailable Physical Memory 1.46 GBTotal Virtual Memory 2.00 GBAvailable Virtual Memory 1.96 GBPage File Space 4.85 GBPage File E:\pagefile.sysThat is my info

Ok,Overclocked ... gone now. But, did the line appear with default aircraft while overclocked?

I believe it did. I tried a few planes that I had altered, and got the line. I also got it with at least one default plane. ( I was choosing planes randomly). There's several ways to overclock my machine. I've had it at 3% using aibooster before.I didn't like aibooster. I figured I'd give 5% a shot manually from bios.I have it back to auto now. It seems faster here, and FS is working good.Maybe I should leave it alone now...:(I was changing some panels around before it happened. I noticed that the 2d cockpit panel would slide up and down if I wanted it to. 1680 x 1050 is a weird screen size and some of the panels take up too much screen space. Under some of the 2d panels was an area that was blacked out. Do you know why it's there, or how to remove it? Where can I find, good, panels designed for 1680 x 1050 resolution screens. I don't use the 2d cockpit to fly much anyway, but it's nice to have a nice one there. In any case it's working ok now..lol :(

I was checking the monitor out and discovered the monitor driver was out dated. I got a new one, from LG, I downloaded and installed. The default driver was dated 2001... :( I just made a few long flights, with a few different aircraft. No problems yet. Thanks for the help, Don :(
