October 4, 200916 yr Commercial Member Edit: Avenger Service Pack 1 is now final and released. See the pinned topic, aboveA critical Service Pack for the MAAM-SIM Avenger package is now in beta testing. Its primary purpose is to cure the spate of crashes and fatal errors suffered by some Avenger fliers while trying to load or switch planes.Upon completion of the testing, all Avenger owners should download and install this SP, which includes and supersedes all previous fixes and also features new, better looking glass textures. However, if you are a crash sufferer and just can't wait to get your Turkey in the air, we invite you to jump the gun and apply the beta SP now. If you do, please report your results here.FS9 users can unzip it directly to their FS9 root directory. FSX fliers who have ported the plane over to that sim will need to make the necessary adjustments for the FS9 Aircraft versus the FSX Sim Objects/Airplane directories.Preliminary results have cured the problems for five out of five of the afflicted, so we are very hopeful that this is the ultimate solution to this vexing issue. Once the SP is vetted by the BTBT boys and girl (yes, the Briefing Time Beta Team now boasts a distaff member ), and in final form, it will be released on the major file libraries, and of course at our own Free Stuff Pages. Also, new DL and CD versions will be produced to incorporate the SP.Thanks to our customers for their patience, and to Fred and his team of back-room testers who have ferreted out this nasty little bug and exterminated it - we trust! Here is the link to the Avenger Service Pack 1 betahttp://www.fssupport.com/maam/TBM_SP1_for_FS9.zip Bill Rambow MAAM-SIM www.maam.org

I'm FSX only these days but I can give it a whirl!Hi Tore,Never fear - we may be quiet, but we are still functioning. In fact, there are two completely new, and very different aircraft packages in the works and progessing nicely. We too, are all FSX from now on. No further hints at the moment, except to say that Virtul Tours of both our new aircraft, and a number of others, can be taken at the MAAM webpages. Now all you have to figure out is which two they are. :-) Bill Rambow MAAM-SIM www.maam.org
October 5, 200916 yr I installed SP1 Beta because I was one of the impatient ones. The Turkey is flying again and I am so happy! Now time to save up for a new computer so I can support you with FSX since FS9 wont be sigh!
October 5, 200916 yr Hello Bill,Good to hear about the new "stuff" on the FSX horizon, although I'm still die-hard FS9. The TBM has been and still is One of my top 2 sim warbirds. I too exeprienced what many others have describe here and over at SOH. I have mine back up and flying becasue my problem seemed to have been associated with a 3rd party scenery install, which I was able to address. I should also mention that I am one of the lucky ones in that I've never (until recently) experienced the CTD problem when switching planes/skins or scenery in flight. Still don't even after the latest problem. I do have a couple questions re the new Service Pack. 1. Does the new SP also address the annoying sound dll warning on FS start up? It is a very minor inconvenience but would be nice if it were to disappear!2. New glass - one of the things I really like about the original glass from the interior is the reflections. Is this effect still there with the new glass? Thanks for the new service pack, and as I said, I still truly enjoy flying my MAAM TBM.Steve

But there is an easy edit of FS9.cfg that will eliminate that nuisance (the warning, not the DLL). You'll find instructions in the BT folder.2. I can't say for sure since I am away on a kayaking/camping trip and have not yet seen the new textures, myself. But if it came from Jan, you can be sure its a true improvement and our Dutch Master loves those reflections, too. Bill Rambow MAAM-SIM www.maam.org

October 7, 200916 yr :Applause:Thank you very much Rambow,I despaired to again fly my Avenger because of the CTD during the loadings or of the change of models. you made a remarkable work, you are brilliant. Thank you still thousand times for your invaluable assistance.Michel (from Belgium)
October 8, 200916 yr Author Commercial Member you made a remarkable work, you are brilliant. Thank you still thousand times for your invaluable assistance.Michel (from Belgium)Hi Michel. By "you" I assume you mean the MAAM-SIM team, as it was all the work of Fred Banting, our code maestro, along with some dedicated testers, who finally tracked down and squashed this pesky bug. On behalf of Fred and the team, you are most welcome. We're just sorry it took so long to get everyone back up and flying their Avengers and Tarpons. Bill Rambow MAAM-SIM www.maam.org
