EVGA GTX285 cards no longer at Newegg?

Featured Replies

Hello,I was thinking about getting their 2GB version and it has been out of stock for a while. Today I looked at Newegg and there are no EVGA GTX 285's in their listing. Do you think they are out of stock or are they replacing the cards with something else? They still have them at Microcenter but I wouldn't want to get one if there was an issue with the card or they are being replaced with a new version. The brands they have available are BFG, ASUS, MSI and Sparkle. I was thinking that BFG would be the next best choice. Any opinions?

NV's next-gen cards are supposed to be shipping before the year ends, but that could be December 31st. If you want a card now, the 285 is still a good card. The new cards will likely run $500+.

Thanks. Do you think the prices on the 285's will drop when the 300 series comes out? I'm planning the upgrade for the Windows 7 release so I can have a fresh install of one OS. I was trying to time it so the Windows 7 drivers have a chance to catch up - probably the beginning of November is what I am guessing. If I'm going to have trouble getting a 285 in the near future, I'll pick one up now.

If NV does it right there won't be any 285's left out there by the time the new cards hit shelves.

That's what I was thinking. I guess I better buy it if I want it.Trying to time harware upgrades never works. You either end up waiiting for the next best thing or buying something the day before it goes on sale.
