Flight Sim Commander & PMDG MD-11

Featured Replies

Hi All, I was thinking of getting the Flight Sim Commander flight planning software by Aerosoft in order use the flight planning and GPS for the MD-11 as well as Level D 767 and coolsky super 80. I currently have the Abacus Copilot Pro and it seems not to work with the MD-11. Is the FS Commander better and will it work well with the MD-11? My specs are below:Core 2 Duo E7200Nvdia 8800 GS4 GB RAMVista 64 UltimateFSX with AccelerationThanks in advance for any help.

I use fscommander for all my flight plans, it will import your flight plan into the md11, but using the gps to control your aicraft will not work on high end planes like pmdg or level D. The gps application for fsc only works with aircraft that use a default Autopilot, nothing complex. But I love it, its great for flight plans and gives you a good point of reference while flying.

Thanks for the quick response; so I wonder if maybe I should just stick with the CoPilot program since they basically so the same thing? Also, I sort of like having the GPS in the plane, but when I load the EZ GPS into the Md-11, the cockpit is blank (no readouts or anything). I am guessing this will be the same if I tried to load the Commander GPS into the MD-11 based on your response? I really only want to use the GPS to find my direction. BTW, this reminds me of a problem maybe you can shed some light on: I have only benn using the md-11 for about two weeks, and I have learned how to use the FMC for the most part. However, when I load the FMC, the plane is all confirgured for weight and fuel etc, and I get no warnings, but the map screen (ND) does not appear to show me which direction to fly in. I usually fly no autopilot since I enjoy flying manually (I am a real world private pilot with no instrument rating in a piper cherokee so I am used to manually controlling the plane in the real world). Is there something I am missing that I can not read the direction to fly in or just my own stupidity? I thought that once loaded the screen would mirror a gps. Thanks again for your help.

Well, maybe in my haste that is what I forgot to do. I will check when I get home from work tonight. And I don't need to have the ATS or autopilot activated to use this, is that correct? That reminds me, when I load these crappy fsx plans, they have no waypoints, just departure and destination. That is fine by me for just getting from point A to point which is all I really want to do. Would this cause a problem?
