How can i reduce idel thrust using aircraft.cfg

Featured Replies

To increase engine power i just up the thrust scaler a bit. But this also inceases your idle thrust.High idle thrust makes the plane taxi like an unstopable bull.Is there any setting in aircraft.cfg that will reduce idle thrust, without damaging the thrust reverse setting. If i know what to tweak, infact i will change all my a/c so that idle thrust is not enough to move the plane, i like to use a nit of throttle control during taxi.So any aircraft.cfg tips for reducing idle thrust. Thanks in advance

It's not possible to adjust in the aircraft.cfg.
Thanks for replyOk where can i adjust the idle thrust,Or any tips to deal with the issue of idle thrust being too high, so that taxi becomes a bit tricky. If there is an fsx data to adjust, else if too comlicated then ill pass.

Hi Warpair,Where your FSX.cfg file is, there is a folder called 'controls'. In that folder the file 'standard.xml' can be edited to help withjoysticks that dont quite sit at idle properly.Right click on 'standard.xml' and press 'edit'.Scroll down until you find your joystick entry, there will be two almost identical joystick entries, one for normal flying, andone for slew mode. You want to edit the normal one.The entry you want looks like this: <AxName>ZAxis</AxName> <Index>2</Index> <AxEvent>AXIS_THROTTLE_SET</AxEvent> <AxScale>127</AxScale> <AxNull>-10</AxNull>The '-10' you see above is normally '0'. You could put -15 or whatever. This will keep the the actual throttle at idle even if your joystickflicks up and down a little.I have a funny feeling you actually want to reduce the power of your aircrafts' idle, but maybe this might help in some way.Good Luck.David.

Thanks much , that is exactly what am trying to do, i want to reduce the idle power so that when throttle is idll plane does not move an inch during taxi. Are you saying that <AxNull>-10</AxNull> reducing this value from -10 to -15 will reduce power at idle throttle.i will look into this idea, thanks a lot

Hi,Its normally 0 by default. I put my example there at -10, but you can try any negative number. This edit will only stop your joystick from pushing the throttle above idle, but if the actual idle powerof your aircraft is too high then it wont help. :(

Thanks , i think this is starting to make sense.I was confused at first, cause you can set throttle null zone in FSX the normal way, but in order to set null zone to negative number , you need to use the text file edit.I think that is what you mean. Thanks, i will give that a shot.I hope this does not crap my reverse thrust though. will update after test.
