Phuket Scenery
Try this: http://www.fsdeveloper.com/forum/downloads.php?do=file&id=83It might let you change some material properties. Set it up, open the tree bgl file and have a little fiddle around.Did you try changing the tree texture format, i vaguely recall a situation where this helped.David.

RAM - intermittantly not all "utilizable" by Windows 7
DRani replied to ESzczesniak's topic in System Hardware: PC | MOBO | RAM | CPU | HDD | SSD | PSU etcHi,Did you clear the CMOS after the new ram went in? Sometimes it wont even post if not. Maybe go into the bios and write down all of your overclocking values, then reset the CMOS and set your O/C back up. :smile:David.

Stuck on Loading Terrain Data 6%
Ive done alot of work with terrain textures and everytime i install a set of terrain textures that dont have mip-maps the 6% stall is exactly what happens. Ill bet some of your scenery terrain textures (FSX\scenery\world\texture) dont have mip-maps. If theres no mip-maps the terrain must be plastered all the way to the horizon with full resolution textures which takes a very long time, thats why it will eventually work but takes forever. Unfortunately the texture folder has over 8000 textures in it, so good luck finding them! :( Hope this helps in some way.David.EDIT: might also be a combination of a high res detail1.bmp and a mipbias entry together. Check those out also.

Performance hit after hard braking on runways
Good find... another loose end wrapped up :(

Zoom
Dont know, you could give it a try or ask at simforums.com, thats where most flight1 stuff is supported.later :( David.

Zoom
Theres a program in the flightsim.com file library called fsxcontrols. It has a mouse and camera module. FSCamera 1.5 is in the avsim librays and F1view in the free file library at the flight1 website.Maybe one of them.

SHADERCACHE
The shader cache (appdata\local\microsoft\fsx\shaders) is built using the information from the shadersHLSL folder, which is in the root fsx folder. If you make modifications to the contents of the shadersHLSL folder, then you need to force the shader cache to rebuild itself. Changing the shader_cache_version in the fsx.cfg is the common way of forcing the rebuild, but i prefer to delete the contents of the shaders folder as i have noticed it getting bigger over time with older version files. If you try any of the shader mods that are available, then youll have to rebuild the cache, otherwise if your just tidying up or it doesnt matter too much.David :(

SHADERCACHE
Hi Jim,Youve probably already started rebuilding, but i just wanted to know... did you delete the shaders folder or the contents within that folder. You should delete the 5 folders within the shaders folder. I should have been more specific. Anyway, a rebuild is always good. Looking forward to the 737 also. :( David.CAUTION: IF REBUILDING SHADER CACHE, DELETE THE FIVE FOLDER WITHIN THE SHADERS FOLDER, NOT THE SHADERS FOLDER ITSELF

SHADERCACHE
Hi Eric,In the graphics section of the fsx.cfg you can have an entry SHADER_CACHE_VERSION=1. If you change the number to anything else it will rebuild the shader cache. You can change it from 1 to 2, and then back to 1 again later and it will rebuild. As long as the number is different from the last time it was rebuilt. The Shader folder is in Username\Appdata\local\microsoft\FSX\Shaders. The contents of this folder is what gets rebuilt.I have seen this folder get very large before, i think from rebuilding too many times, but im not sure. I would recommend making a note of how large the shaders folder is, then cutting it to a safe location and restart fsx and let it rebuild naturally. If you delete the shaders folder it will rebuild by itself without needing any fsx.cfg entries. I think this is a cleaner way of doing it, but make a backup first.David Ranieri. :smile:Edit: No value needed if youve already rebuilt it.

VC Night Lighting
Thank you for taking the time to comfirm that for me. Every time i saw wayward lighting i would wonder 'why dont they do it this way!, why not that way!' :( Carenados modelling and textures are 1st class, i just wish the night lighting was more solid. Thanks againDavid.

VC Night Lighting
I understand, only 2d style gauges assigned to a vcockpitxx entry would use those methods. :( Ive always wondered whether a material can be assigned in gmax or 3dsmax that remains bright all the time without being bound to light maps which only work after a certain point at dusk. And what you could do is make two identical models of say a light bulb, one of them with a normal material and one with a bright material and set the conditions so that for example, if the oil pressure is low then display the bright model and turn the normal model off, then if oil pressure is good then turn the normal model on and turn the bright model off. That way lights will look bright even in day time shadows or at night when the cockpit lighting is not on. Is this possible?David.

VC Night Lighting
Hi,Sorry to but in here, but i wanted to ask Fr Bill about the night lights while the topic was being discussed :( Does the c340 use the good night lights as discussed in your emissive texture article? The style of lights that glow properly, even when the cockpit is shadowed in daytime?http://www.flightsim.com/fswiki/index.php?title=FSX_-_Emissive_TexturesThanks in advanceDavid Ranieri.

Vista / FSX access problem
Hi Tony,Unfortunately im not familiar with 64bit windows 7 and its 32bit program files(x86) folder. I want to use windows 7 instead of vista, but i decided to hold off until my next catastrophic system failure :( . Vista is just too stable for me at the moment to justify the mother dance of dances. Check out the link below and see if anything there helps.http://www.addictivetips.com/windows-tips/windows-7-access-denied-permission-ownership/Im sure someone here with win7 uac experience will be able to help more.David.

Vista / FSX access problem
Are there two Mike Epprights from the same place here....weird... anyway,Check this out for me if you can: Go to the start menu and click on computer. Then in the left column right click on computer, then click manage. Double click local users and groups, then double click groups. Now double click administrators. Is your user name in that list? If not, click add, then type your user name in the box, then click check names then click OK. Restart the computer and see if that works. If not, there might be some other things to try.David.
