Hello people !I have a I7-920 overclock to 3.99mhz (thanks NickN :( ) on an Asus Rampage Gene II board that come with a small exterior LCD poster that i use for monitoring temperature of the CPU, northbridge, Southbridge and Motherboard itself; with this device the CPU temp is between 64 to 67 Celsius when playing FSX ;The concern i have is i downloaded "RealTemp" and it indicate 79 to 81 Celsius ?!Which one is accurate ? i really do not want to fry my CPU....when i exit FSX it goes back down to +/- 47 degrees and if i reboot in the bios, that is about what it shows..Any ideas ?Thank you !Alain from Montreal

I suspect that your mobo display is showing the CPU case temp, where RealTemp is reporting the core temps.47 deg C is a bit warm at idle...80 deg is my personal max on CPU core temps, so you're at the wall from my perspective. Keep in mind that the memory controller on the CPU is in an area that is not thermally monitored, and on a 920 with a locked multiplier, overclocking the BCLK to 200MHz to get to 4GHz is really pushing that section of the chip hard and you don't really know how hot the silicon there is getting. What kind of case and cooling are you using? Is lowering the ambient temp in the room an option? It'd be nice to get your temps down 3-5 deg C.CheersBob ScottColonel, USAF (ret)ATP IMEL Gulfstream II-III-IV-VColorado Springs, CO

Hello Bob,I am using a CoolerMaster CM690 nVidia edition that has 3 X 120mm fans, they are wired thru the Power supply (that is on the bottom of the case) so they are running @ 12volts; the degrees reported on the Asus poster are depicted as follow:1: CPU @ 67 degrees2: NB @ 66 (northbridge)3: SB @ 47 ?!(not certain of that value...) (Southbridge)4: MB @ 28 (Motherboard) or can translate to ambient temp inside caseThe Temp value in Bios is in Celsius. Also when i check in the Bios, the temp indicated for the cpu is 2-3 degrees less than on the poster, probably normal since on reboot, the cpu cools down a bit and is not " working" per say.I will check tonight if i have the correct version of "Realtemp", i use Vista 64....Alain from Montreal
