Black screen / missing textures W7 64bit

Recommended Posts

I have a second install of FSX SP2 on W7 64bit with many of the most popular 3rd party add-ons. Generally it seems to behave about the same as a highly optimized install on XP64 with the one notable exception: Missing and or distorted texturing in full screen mode ala Vista. Sometimes the engine cowlings, external fuselage skin, or scenery objects are missing. The Alt ENTER trick usually generates either a partial or full black screen. Usually occurs 15+ minutes into the sim when switching to external view. Using the Nvidia 191.07s. Anyone have any advice or is this something I'll just have to swallow with W7?

Hi Ryan,Are you using any of the tweeks in your fsx.cfg ie. bufferpools, affinity mask etc. If so, some have reported issues with either in W7. Might want to try removing those and see what happens.

They only cfg tweak that I use is TEXTURE_BANDWIDTH_MULT=70I remember seeing this issue last year when I attempted to operate the sim under the Vista64 platform. I reinstalled into XP64 and the issue went away. Guess I will be holding onto that dual boot for a while longer.
