J41 Left side avionics CTD

Featured Replies

Looking for a little help with the J41, PMDG support tried to figure a solution to this problem but could not come up with one. I can get both engines running and can take off and fly around just fine, the problem is when I try and turn the left side avionics on I get a CTD, the right side comes on and works just fine. I ran the repair option for FSX and finally did a complete reinstall with no change to the problem.Tom Helmers

You mean when you turn on the LEFT AVIONICS MASTER switch? Does the default load hot and running with everything on? Not sure I follow you.

I'm starting with just the batteries on. Once I get the GPU running and I try and turn the Left Avionics on I get a CTD, the right side comes on fine, the default does not load hot and running. Tom Helmers

Mine does, and always has even during beta testing. I don't know why your default would start on batteries.Try loading a default (Trike) then load the JS41. Does that change anything?

I have tried just about every AC in FSX with the same results, but I usually use the Trike. When I load the J41 the first thing I hear is the sound of both engines shutting down, the first happens while the screen is black and transitioning to the J41 and the second just as the J41 comes on the screen. If I have the power "battery" switch on the Trike I get a CTD has soon as I load the J41.

This problem is beyond my limited abilities, but there are many better equipped than I that might have ideas. If I were faced with this scenario, I would try uninstalling FSX SP2 then reinstalling it. Failing that, I would try to download a fresh installer from pmdg. The real problem is the CTD when loading the JS41, your workaround of turning off the battery in the Trike isn't solving the problem. Normally, CTDs on loading are due to a problem in the fsx dll.xml but other things like maybe bad C++ runtime libraries could come into consideration but you have uninstalled and reinstalled multiple times so I overlook the runtime modules. Might be the fsx dll.xml. If you have Vista/W7 be sure to run installers with admin rights.

I have tried both FSX SP2 and Acceleration. Thanks for trying. Tom
