December 3, 200916 yr hello everyone, well it's time to buy a new laptop for fs2004. My old dell xps 1710 has gone bye bye. I know what you are all going to say about using a dell laptop for fs2004 but it worked for me. I need a new laptop but I am not sure which one. There are so many choices now. Can anyone give me a recommendation on a "good" system that will fs2004. I'm not picky but I am looking for something under $800.00. I am obviously concerned with speed and storage. I have A LOT of add ons and more and more each week. It doesn't have to be the top of the line but it has to have at least 4gb ram and 320gb memory. There are some on the Best Buy website that look good but looks can be deceiving. And also I think I will stay away from Dell this time. Thanks for any advice you can give me.

It has a 2.2 ghz dual core cpu, 4gb ddr2 ram, geforce 9800m and 300gb hd. So that's what I know works. I can run FS9 with sliders set mostly right and get 30-40 fps and FSX runs about 20-25 fps with moderate display settings. I guess this one was a bit more than $800 though. It was about $1200 a year ago.
December 4, 200916 yr Check out the M-Tech website.I've been running FS9 great for couple years on the earlier version of M860TU.And on some laptops you have OS choice, XP, Vista, 7Cheaper than Dell or Alienware, but not under $800.... 5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. Crystal Light VR.
December 4, 200916 yr I'm looking at the asus g60vx-rbbx05. It has good reviews and seems to be what I need. It is over $900.000 but seems worth the money. What do you think of that one? Any help is appreciated because I plan on going to Best Buy tonight.

Fine for 2004, won't be quite enough cpu for FSX which takes a fortune in a laptop. Will be interesting to read how you like it. 5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. I am suprised though that the graphics on my world of ai planes and some add on airports are still "jagged" and somewhat flickering. It is so much more advanced than my old dell xps 1710 but maybe it's too advanced. I tried to fly with FSX but I already started seeing stutters. I put in FS2004 and now all seems good. Is it possible that FS2004 is too old for a new computer and therefore has the jagged edges? It does run smooth with all sliders to the right and countless add ons. I just hope the computer doesn't break down, it's hell putting everything back. One new thing for me is the whole 64bit thing, I don't understand it and some addons don't work with that system. I have only had the older system so it's a new thing but technology keeps advancing. Thanks again.
