December 10, 200916 yr I have had ASA since it came out. I had ASA 6.5 before that. I'm having incorrect weather depictions with ASA. Here in TPA we have had overcast and heavy rain all morning. Yet when I am a mile out of TPA it just pops to light broken clouds with sun and no rain. I landed at an airport 2 miles from my home and it shows sunny and light clouds while in real life outside it is heavy rain and overcast. This has happened many times at different airports. I look at the local weather on line and then set it up and get something the complete opposite.I am also experiencing the cloud popping issue. I have set up ASA for fs9 per Jims reccomendations. When landing I will get poor visability and change views and get great visability. I will be landing and it will go from poor to great and back to poor on final. While enroute it will go from heavy clouds to clear in a fraction of a second. What is causing these issues and how can they be fixed?Thank you
December 10, 200916 yr You're not alone.Yesterday, I decided to give ASA a second chance and I had exactly the same experience. Clouds depiction is near perfection, all the other aspects needs to be reworked, updated and improved.Meanwhile, since FSX users haven't reported any issues with ASA after SP1 release, I assume that ASA was initially developed with emphasis on FSX and its weather engine in mind and therefore, we (FS2004) users should not expect any significant changes or improvements in this area, since it's not cost effective. Therefore, I'm going back (again) to ASV6.5 for next 12 months. I guess 2010 is going to be the last year of FS2004 massive usage, due to fact that new i9 cpus with turbo mode can easily reach 3.8-4.00Ghz without risk of hurting hardware. After that, FSX will become a mainstream platform as well as ASA, PMDG NGX and LDS 757.Summarizing all the above-said - go back to ASV6.5 and enjoy the final months of FS2004 beauty. :( 9950X3D, X870E ROG CROSSHAIR HERO, Corsair Dominator Titanium 64GB DDR5-6000 PC5-48000, ASUS RTX 5070Ti 16GB, 9100 PRO 4TB Samsung ,990 PRO 4TB Samsung, AX1600i 1600 Watt 80 Plus Titanium ATX, ASUS 360 ARGB EXTREME 360mm Liquid CPU Cooling Kit.
December 11, 200916 yr Hi Jeff,Are you running B433 of ASA?Default settings in ASA?If you have FSUIPC, default settings and weather settings off?Lock to Closest On in ASA?Use System Time set in ASA and FS?Both FS versions were programmed equally and in fact we knew more about the FS04 system than the FSX system, so don't believe that for a moment. For cloud pops make sure your suppression range is set to 200. We know some users are experiencing this and it is on the bug list. Thanks,

YesIf you have FSUIPC, default settings and weather settings off? Yes, Version 3.90 registered. Lock to Closest On in ASA? If you mean " Lock to FS Position" in the Map screen then the answer is no. If this isn't what you mean please explain.Use System Time set in ASA and FS? YesThis morning I did a flight from KAUS to KPIT. On the ground at KAUS at 7:am this morning I'm taxiing, The sun is rising and no rain, then Haalfway to the runway I get a downpour with sun, Then at the runway I get sun with no rain. While rolling down the runway I get rain on the takeoff roll 1/4 the way down, then it stops before Vr and no rain on climbout. Very Strange. Can you provide me detailed settings for ASA, FSUIPC for FS9 to provide a realistic experience. I'm disappointed in ASA but feel maybe there is something that I'm missing that is causing it. Your customer service is great and I have loved AS 6.I do not run FSX. I use FS2004 only. I have a Q6600 pocessor, 8800 gts card and 4 gb of ram. Thanks,Jeff
December 12, 200916 yr Hi,On the ASA Report Screen in the Selected Station portion is Lock to closest. Please check that box On.Default settings are a good place to start for ASA.In FS04, are clouds set to detailed clouds and the 3D Cloud % slider at %100?On the ASA Report screen does ASA recognize your current location in FS?With ASA and FS running is Weather in FS automatically set to User Defined? Thanks,

The frustration level is high. Right now I'm doing a flight from KBOS to KORD. On the ground @ KBOS it is raining with fog. On climbout when I reached 7000' the fog layer just disappeared. I circled over the airport and was able to see right down on KBOS at 10,000'. I have experienced poor depiction since I bought ASA. I have followed the forums with fixes and still running into problems with ASA. I'm really feeling that I wasted my money. What should I do?Thanks,Jeff

December 14, 200916 yr Author Coming into KORD had scattered clouds. At 3.5 miles out at 3000'feet it all of a sudden turned into a haze layer. Upon landing the haze layer magically disappeared. What is going on with this????
December 14, 200916 yr Jeff,I'm currently hardly testing ASA as well with all new fixes (after 12 months on not touching ASA at all).I have noticed that turning OFF all weather settings in FSUIPS is EXTREMELY critical for proper weather depiction in FS2004. You must not only un-check weather setting on main FSUIPS screen, but you also need to srupously verify that each setting for visibility, winds and clouds in FSUIPS are turned off as wll. It looks like ASA doesn't like FSUIPS very much. After I did that (shut down FSUIPS completely for weather), I was finally satisfied with the way ASA works in FS2004 on stationary location (no flying) at the single moment of time.Meanwhile, clouds popping is still the BIGGEST ISSUE. Since I'm a long-hauler with PMDG MD11/747, I'm precluded to use ASA during my flights, since constant weather changes and clouds-popping both pull a plug on enjoyment. Hope this will be fixed in SP2.ThanksDmitriy 9950X3D, X870E ROG CROSSHAIR HERO, Corsair Dominator Titanium 64GB DDR5-6000 PC5-48000, ASUS RTX 5070Ti 16GB, 9100 PRO 4TB Samsung ,990 PRO 4TB Samsung, AX1600i 1600 Watt 80 Plus Titanium ATX, ASUS 360 ARGB EXTREME 360mm Liquid CPU Cooling Kit.
December 15, 200916 yr Jeff,The visibility layer is going to disappear no matter what you use for weather. This is a situation in FSX and FS2004. There is no fix right now as it is a FS bug. Thanks,

There is no fix right now as it is a FS bug. Thanks,Jim,Couldn't you and your team work on a fix by adding in a cloud layer in a low vis situation. Say 2 miles visability, ASA adds a cloud layer in the upper layer of the soup so that way when you climb out of it your not looking at the ground clear as day. You are looking at the cloudlayer. Is that possible?Jeff
December 16, 200916 yr Hi Jeff,If we could have done this, we would have, right after FS04 was released years ago. But so far we cannot. You wouldn't believe the XXX amount of hours that we have spent on this since FS04 has been out! Thanks,
