Windows XP Compatibilty with Sidewinder Joystick

Featured Replies

I have just installed Windows XP but amongst the various programmes that do not apperar to be supported is my Sidewinder ForceFeedbackJoystick (the original version not FF2) Microsoft say that the driver should work but not the other software and they do not intend to upgrade. Problem is I can`t get v3.0 of the software to install and my Joystick is not recognised - config says is ain`t connected. Can anyone help please - FS2K2 is definitely grounded at my place :-( Many thanks in anticipation

I had trouble with my FF2. I deleted all related software that came with joystick, disconnected joystick, rebooted computer. Once restarted I plugged joystick back in and let XP install software. Seems to work fine now. Maybe that will work for older FF?

Just a note, but with my FF1 joystick and the steps outlined above by George (BTW, great job George!), my stick works perfectly in XP Professional. I did not install the Sidewinder software, as it wasn't needed.
