December 15, 200916 yr In another thread on another subject, I found: ATC gives some pretty ridiculous instructions for an IFR approach I know, right? Here I am in my shiny new Delta B727-200, approach configured, level at 1900 MSL per ATC's previous instructions, flying 090 to intercept the ILS-7 at Jacksonville International and about 8 miles outside the FAF (life is good!) when suddenly, I get "Delta 1365, turn right heading 190, climb and maintain 1900 feet."Say, WHAT? This after you gave me 17 gratuitous and illogical, even contradictory heading changes on the way down from FL230 where you kept me until only 40 miles from the airport, requiring a jarring and destablilizing spoilers-out 4000 fpm descent? How can I "climb and maintain 1900" when I'm rock-solid on that altitude already, and have been for the last 15 miles since my crash-dive from altitude? Why, when I'm perfectly set up for the LOC intercept do you now want me to fly away from it? You already gave me "cleared for the approach!"(etc. etc. etc.)Once, when I was already at my airplane's Service Ceiling and struggling at full throttle just to maintain altitude over the Rockies, ATC instructed to me "climb and maintain [2,000 feet higher]." Right. I'll just break open the Helium canisters....I need to find two things for FSX:1. An "UNABLE!" response to ATC... just like in the real world... currently, the only available option for refusing an insane ATC instruction is to cancel instruments; and/or2. Some more competent ATC "logic" to replace the FSX partly-dysfunctional ATC- probably some kind of addon.Anybody know of anything that works without requiring me to join a SIM club and depend on a "live" online controller? Thanks in advance!

December 16, 200916 yr I have been seriously considering getting RC, but also looked at the ProFlight Emulator PFE for very reasons such as these sort difficulties. I recently replied to another fan who stated having everything he needed for flight simming. Default ATC can mess-up a good flight. Recently I was flying an EMB-120 into Fresno KFAT and at more than 35 miles from the airport I was directed to descend and maintain 1700 ft. This is precisely where I would be at FAF. I started a smooth transition but I was called multiple times to expedite my descent. I was already at more than 2000 fpm after the first prompt to expedite my descent. So there I was cruising over the neighborhoods. Keith Guillory
