December 19, 200916 yr To cut a very frustrating evenings work short, my trusty Logitech Freedom 2.4 finally died after years of good service, so I bought myself an early Xmas present of an Saitek AV8R 02 which arrived today. The place I bought it (Amazon) suggested it was PC compatible. However it looks as though I should have taken more notice of the "XBOX 360" words on the spec.Trying to set it up in FSX is a nightmare. It shows up in Vista 64 as a XBox 360 controllerNone of the Saitek profiling software has any effect on it that I can tellThe manual is about as much use as a chocolate teapot. So the question is, should I just return it to Amazon and get a AV8R 01 or an equivalent Logitech?I work in IT but I really haven't got the time or the patience to be fannying around with something that should work, and is advertised to work, straight out the box. It's a shame cos I was led to be believe that Saitek kit was quality.Rant over.Anyone had any success with this stick and FSX? All suggestions gratefully received.cheers Owen
December 20, 200916 yr Author update on this - FSX does not see the stick at all whether it be in Mode 1 or Mode 2. Though Vista 64 can see it fine, and I can calibrate it fine. Is something weird going on with one of the FSX config files?Guessing I have a stick that is DOA and should go back to the great Saitek factory in the sky....
December 25, 200916 yr Never went for Saiteks calibrator, got warned off. Use FSUIPC to handle your gear. "I´ll rather be down here wishing I was up there than be up there wishing I was down here"
January 3, 201016 yr While looking around I think I saw that Saitek have one joystick for x box and another AV8R-01 is dedicated to aviation.I have just purchased one from amazon and in process of setting up.I have a piece left over. It is a black plastic clamp? in two pieces which can be connected by screws. It looks as if it should attach to the actual joystick lever, but cannot see why or where.Any suggestions? I did wonder if it was to limit travel of the stick to prevent over enthusastic use.Regards,johnep34
