Anybody have the Skysimulations DC-9

Featured Replies

I was looking for a bit of feedback on the Skysimulations DC=9. I have their MD-11 but that sits in my hanger for good until I get a more powerful PC to run it. Being the DC-9 is analog, I was wondering if the performance hit is much less than the MD-11 in the FPS dept. Any feedback is greatly appreciated folks. Thanks in advance.

I have the Sky Sim DC9 for FSX...First off, the hit on FPS is very light-- and for a reason. The exterior model looks amazing and pretty accurate. The cockpit however is not as graphically detailed. I would so that it is on par with many freeware packages. This isn't necessarily bad, but just don't expect the panels/virtual cockpit to look as good as Captain Sim or PMDG. Again on the bright side it keeps the impact on frames very light. The package comes with several variants of the DC9, along with the ability to choose the cockpit color (paint options were blue or gray). A decent mix of liveries are included for each variant. The sounds are pretty week, however if you go out and download the free sound set from TSS it helps. One of the worst parts of the soundset in my opinion is that the developer recorded his own voice for the flap callouts. So when you choose for example flaps 5, you have to listen to a rather unconvincing call out. Performance wise the plane is super fun to fly, and seems pretty accurate and true to the numbers. If you are sitting on the fence, it is highly worth the purchase. There has been a service pack release and some new liveries released, so it looks like the developer is standing behind it. Good luck!
