January 1, 201016 yr My Nvidia 8800GT currently has a driver; 8.15.11.8627 dated 26-06-2009.Since everyone is talking about the 195.62 dated 26-11-09 I tried to get Vista to update to this one.But it keeps telling me the old one is the best up to date driver for my card.Does Microsoft update only allow the update after they tweek them for Vista? Or do I have to uninstall what is in use first and install the 195.62 manually? If so what is the point of the Vista auto process? I find this delving into things I don't understand a nightmare.I would be grateful for any help.rhha FSX + Acceleration + UTX Eu v1.4 + GEX Eu v2 Dell XPS 420 Nvidia 8800GT We're all so headstrong - Feeling awe and wonder is the answer.

To update, you'll need to go get them yourself and install them. You can find the drivers on the download section of the nvidia site, and they are also available along with more recent betas on www. guru3d.com. You'll also want to get and install the latest version of the program "Driver Sweeper" from Guru3D as well. Here's the process I use for nVidia drivers:1. Obtain the driver you wish to install, and check to see if there any recent DirectX updates on downloads.microsoft.com2. Use Windows Control Panel "Programs and Features" dialog to first uninstall nHancer, Physx and nVidia Stereo 3D drivers (if installed) and then uninstall the nVidia video drivers. Do not allow the system to reboot when it asks at the end of the driver uninstallation...first delete the directory C:\NVidia and then reboot manually to Windows safe mode (hold down the F8 key as the machine reboots).3. Use Driver Sweeper while in safe mode to remove any lingering remnants of video drivers. Check the AGEIA - Physx, ATI, and NVIDIA - Display checkboxes, but NOT the NVIDIA - Chipset box.4. Reboot normally.5. Disable your antivirus program temporarily. If there is an update to DirectX available, run it first. Run the driver install program.6. Reboot and ensure that your antivirus is back in operation.7. Reinstall and reconfigure nHancer.RegardsBob ScottColonel, USAF (ret)ATP IMEL Gulfstream II-III-IV-VColorado Springs, CO Bob Scott | President and CEO, AVSIM Inc ATP Gulfstream II-III-IV-V Sys1 (MSFS20+24/XPlane12+11): AMD 9800X3D, water 2x240mm, MSI MPG X670E Carbon, 64GB GSkill 6000/30, nVidia RTX4090FE Alienware AW3821DW 38" 21:9 GSync, 2x4TB Crucial T705 PCIe5 + 2x2TB Samsung 990 SSD, EVGA 1000P2 PSU, 12.9" iPad Pro Thrustmaster TCA Boeing Yoke, TCA Airbus Sidestick, Twin TCA Airbus Throttle quads, PFC Cirrus Pedals, Coolermaster HAF932 case Sys2 (P3Dv5/v4): i9-13900KS, water 2x360mm, ASUS Z790 Hero, 32GB GSkill 7800MHz CAS36, ASUS RTX4090 Samsung 55" JS8500 4K TV@60Hz, 3x 2TB WD SN850X 1x 4TB Crucial P3 M.2 NVME SSD, EVGA 1600T2 PSU Fiber link to Yamaha RX-V467 Home Theater Receiver, Polk/Klipsch 6" bookshelf speakers, Polk 12" subwoofer, 12.9" iPad Pro PFC yoke/throttle quad/pedals with custom Hall sensor retrofit, Thermaltake View 71 case, Stream Deck XL button box Sys3 (DCS/P3Dv4/ATS/ETS): AMD 7800X3D, MSI MPG X870E Carbon, Noctua NH-D15S, 64GB GSkill 6000/30, EVGA RTX3090 Alienware AW3420DW 34" 21:9 GSync, Corsair HX1000i PSU, 4TB Crucial T705 PCIe5 + 2TB Samsung 970Evo Plus, TM TCA Officer Pack, Saitek combat pedals, TM Warthog, TM RS300 FF wheel/pedals, Coolermaster HAF XB case
