July 26, 200322 yr WinXPPro Control Panel>User Accounts:The dialogue under help concerning turning off the "Use Welcome Screen and "Use Fast User Switching" implies that the computer will run faster if these items are turned off. Does this mean that the computer will simply boot up faster, or possibly that a little better performance might be achieved with FSXXXX? Thanks:RTH
July 26, 200322 yr Author The things you mention usually improve general sytem performance by removing items from memory and stopping those itmes from running thus releasing some CPU power. Therefore it may improve the performance of FS, especially if your rig is on the low perormance side. There are a number of web sites that give general XP tips and show which applications and processes you can safely delete or switch off, this helps to increase the amount of memory available and again reduce the amount of CPU power used for 'other' processes.I suggest you do a search for XP Tips, read the various tips, set a restore point and then implement the tips in stages and see if it make any difference to FS. If things go wrong you can always roll back to the restore point.HTH
