February 3, 201016 yr I'm running FSX on my laptop now and I have the graphics dialed in really well. I think it is time for me to start migrating to FSX, but I have a problem. I only do domestic and sometimes international routes in Japan. And all the Japanese airports that I have are from Overland and for FS9.Can FS9 scenery like Overland's airports be imported into FSX?Do I need to alter any files, or is it just copy and register in the scenery library?I have another question about Japanese airports, but I will post it in the FSX forum. Thanks :) Derek RogersPC Specs: Intel i7-4790K 4.6GHz : 16GB RAM : GTX 970 4GB
February 7, 201016 yr Most likely no they won't work. FSX sceneries use a few new design features that mean that FS9 made scenery won't display properly in FSX. Usually this manifests itself in textures not displaying and transparent areas like trees not displaying properly. That's why scenery needs to be adjusted and re-compiled to the FSX SDK requirements. February 7, 201016 yr Generally, most elements of scenery made for FS9 and previous versions will display correctly in FS X. There are some problems, particularly as was mentioned concerning some transparencies. But, mostly everything will work fine, including any terrain modifications. But, the best way to find out is just to try. As you say, simply add the scenery packages to FS X scenery library in the standard manner.Best regards.Luis Hot, humid Caribbean paradise!
February 8, 201016 yr Author I have been playing with them over the past couple days. I have imported all of the airports and everything seems to works well. :(Where I'm seeing problems is in the textures. Some of the airports runway textures are black, but still feature the numbering and lines located on the runway. Like in RJSK all is well, but the number 28 and 10 are now located in a black box and the lines that warm the end of the runway are also the same. I'm assuming that this is because of the transparency that you mentioned earlier. The runway textures are noticeably not as good as the FSX default, but this is because of the textures that the add-on scenery uses.Over all I have checked 15 of the Overland airports and they all work well, just some little things here and there. The problems are not severe enough for anymore to remove the airports. especially when they are still the best modled Japanese airports you can find. :(Next I'm looking at working on Urakawa's airport traffic add-ons that I have, but have less hope that they will work. Let's try and see, haha. Derek RogersPC Specs: Intel i7-4790K 4.6GHz : 16GB RAM : GTX 970 4GB
