February 3, 201016 yr I can't remember where I read, but it was that an ODD CPU multiplier was better with Intel products, than running with an EVEN 29 vs 30 for example. Is this another CPU Urban Legend, or in fact is there some basis for this? My system did in fact come set up with an odd number (27) from the factory.Any thoughts, or leads to articles discussing the above?Typo in header 'mutiplier' shoud have been typed; 'multiplier'. ThanksMitch
February 3, 201016 yr Sounds like an urban legend. I've never seen any empirical data that would support this claim, and I've used and overclocked plenty of Intel processors over the years.
February 3, 201016 yr Author Sounds like an urban legend. I've never seen any empirical data that would support this claim, and I've used and overclocked plenty of Intel processors over the years. Most likely so. I dropped my system back to stock with it being 27 and thought to revisit the question. If I can find WHAT I was reading on the Net, I'll come back to this thread and post it. It was a good read at the time, and seemed to back the claim up with some technical data/offering. Well, 'backing it up'...should read, offer the explanation for why so, in the author's opinion.Mitch

ThanksMitchIt has been noted that a majority of X58 boards do not overclock stable very well on a multi of 21 vs 22 or 20 when going for max. Other than that the only other things that comes to mind is the ASUS AMD-AM2/3 SLI board, it has a strange little bug in that any odd number used for the multy results in just a small fraction of what you should gain.I have no issues with using a multi of 20 or 21 on this board.
