February 25, 201016 yr Looking for some good advise here, thanks!Upgrading in a few months and I want to know if it would be wise to get the new i7 930 or go for the 920?Will the 930 be 32 or 45 nm technology?Do you think the 920 be fased out?
February 25, 201016 yr From what I have read on different forums the 930's are re-packaged 920's I just bought a 920 from newegg batch 3950A421 that is very good so far. I don't think you are going to see much more of an OC because they are the same TDP and both are 45nm. Again I may be wrong but that is what i have read. As far as I know they will be phazing out the 920's. ________________________________________________________________________________ Jeremy 9800X3D OC'd -30 +200MHZ | 64GB CL30 RAM | RTX 5080 | Windows 11 23H2| Bravo Throttle | Alpha Yoke | CH Pedals | Logitech Radio Panel | SmoothTrack | AAO
February 25, 201016 yr Thanks, better go get a 920 now I think, no reason to pay extra for a 930 if they are about the same...
February 25, 201016 yr One other thing of note is that the 930 is supposed to have a 22x multi vice the 21x of the 920. That being said 4.2 is probably about the max you are going to get on good air for either chip, either by 920=200x21=4.2 or 930=191x22=4.2, on water you would probably be able to get 920=210x21=4.4 or 930=200x22=4.4 but YRMV because of each individual chip and motherboard. Again this is all just speculation the best thing to do is to take a look at sites like anandtech, tomshardware, or some of the other review sites for the best info. ________________________________________________________________________________ Jeremy 9800X3D OC'd -30 +200MHZ | 64GB CL30 RAM | RTX 5080 | Windows 11 23H2| Bravo Throttle | Alpha Yoke | CH Pedals | Logitech Radio Panel | SmoothTrack | AAO
March 8, 201016 yr Thanks, better go get a 920 now I think, no reason to pay extra for a 930On the contrary, no reason NOT to go for a 930.In the UK, the price difference is less than
