All you tin boxers out there

Recommended Posts

Guest wathomas777

I purchased mine from Wal-Mart, and in addition to the "Tin" box, they had a Corgi Cast Iron and plastic replica of the Wright Flyer packaged to it.Do all the tin box sets include the little Wright Flyer, or is that a special Wal-Mart deal.If it is a special Wal-Mart deal, I'm impressed. Wal-Mart usually presses hard to limit space on their shelves, and the tin and plane combo is easiest the largest package on the software shelf. As far as the Sim goes. I'm probably running the lowest powered system right now at 600Mhz. I'm a little dissapointed, but still trying to find the sweet spot. Trying to find what compromises I can make and still be happy. Target....15FPS and I'm a happy man.

You should feel lucky! I just got mine from EB Games today, and no little plane of any sort. Just a nod and a tin box. Not that I'm complaining, mind you ;-).

$49.99 I had a copy on hold at EB games, but found it on the shelf, and you all understand a 'bird in the hand'. So it had to go with me. Pretty cool if you ask me.

Hi wathomas777:Please keep posting your experiences w/FS2004. I have a PIII 600 as well and am trying to decide what to do. I don't have the funds for an upgrade right now but have seen some encouraging posts about results on lower end systems. I have enjoyed FS2002 on my system. I have really had good results with it and can live with the lower framerates (I have mine locked on FS2002 at 16 and this is OK w/me).Thanks in advance,Scott Smith

Scott, I am running it on a P3733 and with sliders in the middle, Iam averaging 15 FPS. My understanding is that the middle or normal settings are about the same as the Max settings in FS2002.I have 768 megs of Ram and GF3 Ti500 64 meg vid card. I would go for it! With all the slider options i am sure you can findsettings that will wwork for you.Hopr this helps,Glen

I got the tin version from ProVantage and I didn't get any replicas of anything :(. Oh well. I'm happy with the program though. :)

I was more than a little suprised at the low price of FS2k4, especially at Wal-Mart. Wasn't the retail price supposed to be $60?

There were several stores in the area advertising the miniatures. Comp-USA's flyer showed the Spirit of St. Louis (I didn't go in to see if they had other models as well). Best Buy had about 15 copies with the DC-3, and all 6 of Wal-Mart's boxes were the Wright Flyer. I got it at Wal-Mart because it was $5 cheaper than the others.
