February 26, 201016 yr I have an ASUS P5N E SLI motherboard with currently an Intel E6700 CPU. Am thinking of upgrading to a Q9650. Does anyone have experience with this motherboard, and are there any problems in using that particular CPU with this motherboard?Any advice, pros or cons, or any other comments would be welcomed. Thanks,Donald E. February 26, 201016 yr The only people I know that have P5N SLI boards had great difficulty when overclocking. If you don't plan on OCing then don't worry about it and grab a Core 2 Quad. I'd generally recommend the 9550 over the 9650 though, just because of the price difference. My 9550 sits comfortably at 4.1GHz. I think you'd be hard-pressed to find a stable 9650 at a greater clockspeed on air cooling. Most serious overclockers with 9550s that I know are also at 4GHz or so. If you're interested, try Micro Center. They have the 9550 for about $180 right now, quite a bit less than Newegg.
