Building FSX compatible system

Featured Replies

I'm considering building a new FSX compatible system for $1000 CAN or less that is close to best performance in todays market.I have looked at components from Newegg.ca and Tiger direct.ca.I have a power supply, case and video card I can use.I have also looked at systems from Future Shop,Best buy and Dell (Alienware),but a good system is still pricey.Any suggestions welcome.Ron

Be sure to check NCIX as well as Newegg.ca. The rest aren't worth looking at. What parts are you planning on using? I can't make a recommendation on the other components without knowing that first.

My power supply is a 700w BFG,and the video card is a GE forceGTS 250 512 mb OC.I would probably have to change the memory to at least 6 gig, DDr3 and get a new disk drive and also Windows 7 64 bitOS.Ron

Ok, that will be adequate, though you may want a better graphics card if you run add-ons, particularly those of the high-resolution scenery variety. Get an i7 930a Gigabyte X58A-UD5and OCZ Gold 6GB DDR3 1600 triple channel kitIf you want to overclock you'll want a different cooler as well, I'd recommend Thermalright's Venomous X as I just upgraded my main system with this cooler with fantastic results. Noctua's NH-D14 is also a great cooler, slightly better results than the Venomous X but also massive, and may block memory slots.

You'll be waiting for a long time then. Intel has no competition at the high end other than their own products. The only reason Intel has to reduce prices is when they release new products.
