I've managed to fly the first tutorial. Iwant to try things out. Lets say from Amsterdam to Paris. What additionally sofware do you absolutely need to plan such a fligt. I do not mean scenery but navigation and routeplanning. Also, are there more CO flights available in the MD11 database or can one obtain them somewhere else?Peter KoningNetherlands

I use FSBuild for building routes, its payware, but there are also free alternatives out there like www.simroutes.com

None that you absolutly need. But some of the suggestions above are useful improvements to the default FSX planner. At its simplest, the default FSX planner will get you from A to B in a reasonably effecient manner. SIDs and STARs can be selected on the fly from the FMC using the plan mode to see how appropriate they are and the PROG page in the FMC can be used to guesstimate fuel requirements. Simroutes and Flightaware are two web sites that will give you flight plans that other people use and simroutes will let you generate flight plans for your self (though they do need checking for silly diversions once you import them). If you get the planning bug, there is software out there which is (apparently) almost as good as the stuff real-world dispatchers use.

Thanks so far. I checked the websites of the products, witch generated more questions:I consider myself a beginner, so I am not flying on-line; also I do not want ATC interference. or real time weather. All I want to do is excercice with the two tutorials but using different dep-arr.What program is best suited for the above mentioned? The EFB seems to be overlapping alot of things like maps e.g. What is the advantage of having this program also?EFB is not working with FSX in full screen mode. I am always in full screen mode. I understand that running the MD 11 in windowed mode can give trouble. So maybe EFB is not a sensible choice. What are the most significant differences between Vroute and FSbuildPeter Koning

I recommend sticking to the default FSX flight planner for the moment. If you are trying to learn the plane, then you don't need additional stuff distracting you. Then when you are confident in your flying, you can try improving your planning skills.

Thanks to all,I follow the advise to first experiment with the FSX planner FMS combo before going on. Peter Koning
