March 8, 201016 yr I have noticed that my FMS database is older than the one used in the advanced tutorial of Markus Burkhard.I did succesfully run the first tutorial with the exception that the flightplan in the FMS uses a CRZ FL 37500 instead of 37000.To be able to try the advanced tutorial I have to update the FMS.Questions:If i update using the navigraph site, is it still possible for me to run the first tutorial? Is it not strange that the update is not in the download, I purchased two week ago?If I update, are there things that need special attention?Regards,Peter Koning
March 8, 201016 yr Actually, the cruise height is not a part of the flightplan itself, but is entered in the INIT page manually. Also it has nothing to do with the AIRAC cycle, AIRAC only describes things like waypoints, it doesnt care about heights afaik. After updating im pretty sure that you would still be able to do the tutorialEntering 375 as CRZ LEVEL like in the screenshot should give you a cruize level of FL375EDIT: I see now that you wanted to fly at fl370, and got 375 instead, silly me. As Dan said, make sure you set the correct altitude when you turn your altitude knob. I think if you keep it at the wrong height for more than a couple of seconds things will start to go wrong, ie it will use the higher cruize height. You can always set your cruize height again in the INIT page tho, even while in-flight
March 8, 201016 yr Even when first released, the navdata that comes with the simulation is at least one cycle old per agreements between pmdg and navigraph, I am guessing.Updating is easy. I purchase a year of updates at once so I don't worry about credits expiring. Download the FMS data installer, run it and you are done unless you have both FS9 and FSX where you run it once for each. You can download as many times as you wish each cycle. The FL37500 is probably due to your setting the altitude knob one click too high and not correcting it before that value was put into the FMS. This little trap gets a lot of new MD11 users.I have no idea if the tutorial needs the latest data, but I recommend data updates at least every two cycles (even number cycles are major updates this year, odd number have minimal changes for civilians).
