Anyone have SoftTh working in FSX?

Featured Replies

I have a 3 screen set up, Portrait-Landscape-Portrait, with resolutions of 1080x1920, 1920x1080, 1080x1920. They are set up properly in the NVidia control panel with the centre monitor at 1920x1080 as the primary. I have winXP 32, SP3, NVidia 182.5 drivers, and Acceleration.I deleted the FSX.cfg, and then installed the latest SoftTH as per the readme. I set up the softTH cfg with the required additions for FSX, and made other adjustments according to my system. Then I started up FSX, and configured the settings, setting a resolution of 4080x1080x32, and exited fsx. Then I went into the FSX cfg file and set wide screen = True. Then I opened FSX again, and it opened up on the left Portrait screen. I dragged it onto the centre Landscape screen, and I clicked on fly now, and it opened in windowed mode on the centre screen. Then I clicked on the menu bar (while still in window mode) to go into full screen mode. I could use the menu bar in this state without any freezeup. The side screens flashed with the blue SoftTH logo, and then it went into full screen stretched over the 3 monitors in 4080x1080. It looked perfect. I flew around for a bit and all was well as long as I didn't touch anything. Then the problems started. If I hit any keys, the centre monitor changes to a different lower washed out resolution, and the cockpit is turned on a 45 degree angle and it looks like I am flying sideways. The side monitors still look good though. I can keep on flying when it is like this, but if I touch the menu bar, it freezes. It also freezes using the menu bar while flying when it is running well before touching any keys. It also freezes using alt-Enter. The only way I can exit FSX is to use Ctrl-Alt-Del.Anyone have any ideas how to fix this? Thanks,Bill

You could probably get better help from the guys in the WideScreen Gaming forum for this, as many of the people there use SoftTH instead of a TripleHead2Go. But my understanding of it is that SoftTH is a software solution to achieve 3-wide gaming...not a hardware solution like a TH2G. It is going to use more of your computer resources to make it work. With FSX, you may easily be exceeding your computer's resource capabilities trying to use SoftTH with FSX 3-wide. From what I've read, SoftTH may work well in other gaming "genres", but it might not be the right solution for 3-wide FSX. I've been using a Digital TH2G at 5040 x 1050 with FSX with no problems at all.
