March 14, 201016 yr All my smoke and contrails and engine start smoke are black boxes. What can cause this?? What can i do to fix this.I had that problem before too. I'm not sure what causes it, but all you have to do is reinstall the game in order to fix that problem.M.N
March 14, 201016 yr All my smoke and contrails and engine start smoke are black boxes. What can cause this?? What can i do to fix this.Do you have DX10 preview running? If it's an addon program that creates engine start smoke and contrails, the textures were probably not made for FSX but for earlier versions of FS.Best regards,Jim

March 15, 201016 yr nope no addons that caused this and no dx10 but i am useing fsx gold. Will i have to repair fsx to fix this??No repair should be necessary at this time. Deleting or renaming the FSX.cfg and then restarting FSX and letting the config rebuild solves a lot of issues. Always do that first before attempting a tedios repair. Also checked your main FSX/effects/texture and look for fs_2.bmp. If it is missing, you'll have to do a repair. This file, if missing, creates square nav lighting when DX10 is enabled and it could be your solution too.Best regards,Jim

March 15, 201016 yr Ulf B is correct...You will find that one or more of these files are missing...They often get deleted when you remove some addons...Don't know why developers do this, but it has happened to me several times...Just replace the missing files...If you can't find them, we can email them to you...Steve in Kansas Steve 7 Miles NW of KGCK
