March 15, 201016 yr FSX sdk resample tool allows for an 8-bit blendmask to be applied. You can use this to fade in the default textures, or create an arbitrary hard-edge for your photo. Typical method is to use the "multisource" directive in the .inf file, use a standard 24 bit color photo as source 1 and a grayscale image (same pixel dimensions) as a second source.
