The Tiger Moth compass is a P-8 type compass.First make sure you have v1.1 of the tiger moth (if you downloaded it from avsim then you have v1.1, otherwise check the pilots flying notes which will have the version number)This document explains how to use various types of compasses. The P-8 is described on page 2:http://www.cixvfrclub.org.uk/downloads/DLF...4%20Compass.pdfThis web page also describes its use. Scroll down to section 6 for the explanation:http://www.bharat-rakshak.com/IAF/History/...HurriNotes.htmlThe basic theory goes like this:You set the desired course by turning the outer ring until the course you need is lined up with the little white lubber line in the compass. The lubber line is inline with the longitudinal axis of the aircraft (ie straight ahead). To stay on course you then keep the cross shaped pointer pointing to N on the outer ring. The cross shaped pointer always points north. For example: If you want to fly a heading of 120 deg magnetic turn the outer ring so that 120 is lined up with the lubber line. Turn the aircraft so that the cross shaped pointer is lined up with N on the outer ring. And that is it. You can use the locking lever to prevent accidentally moving the outer ring. Note that there are two compasses in the tiger moth. One in the pilot and one in the passenger positions. These are independent and can have different settings for each one.
