Thanks Josh, so FSScene X is the way to go. Are textures also weather influenced like GEPro?-Paul

It's amazing, that on every forum, people looking for new ground textures. Seems to me, that GE pro, UT, Fscene, and so on are become somehow boring to the people. Maybe it's time for someone to came up with something NEW.

My Specification: I CAN RUN FSX IN MAX SETTINGS....i don't care about dell, bell, amd, intel, 60000 wats power supply or alien made graphic card....

I think people are just looking for change or "the greener grass on the other side" For myself, I have used GEProII for years now so I am up for trying something new... I can always back up and go back but figure I will never know what I am missing unless I try ;)Just my .02,-Paul

Hey Paul,Please report back your findings on FScene X. I, as you, am always tinkering and looking for something better. I am however very skeptical at this point on FScene X as all I can find are very tiny screenshots and the few that were larger - well, lets just say not very impressive. Thanks bro,Mitch

Hey Mitch, I will report back... I felt the same but then i thought that if I went on screenies alone I never would have bought Gary Summons UK2000 stuff which is exceptional. So maybe I will get lucky ;)On the flip side I can already tell I am going to Love FS FlightKeeper... Wow... Just got done editing my first soundset :)Can't believe I missed this one all these years, so much functionality in one addon it is amazing...-Paul

EDIT:So here is your first red flag:
FScene Replacement Ground Textures for FSX and FS9SUGGESTION:Due to the complicated FS-structure FScene can not offer an automated uninstall. You could make a backup of the original ground textures prior to installing of the FScene Textures.
Don't say something your competitors do is too complex :( Good thing I always do this anyway by default and read the read me's but a big gotcha for those that don't... Installing now,Edit2: It did automatically find FS on my WideFS Server without me having to browse. First time I have seen that, not sure how it figured it out but a nice perk.Edit 3: First flight over KEWR and KTEB and immediately noticed how much brighter these textures were.... Trying a few UK and EU sites now to compare but a undecided for now. Beeter than the screenshots depict certainly but not sure if I like them better than GEPro yet...Edit 4: Probably the last of the day as I am about to start a long haul using FSScene to see what I "really" think but they are definitely different, certainly make FS "pop" much more than GEPro due to the brightness and make UT features much more evident due to the contrast now. I am a bit uncertain and it will probably take a few days of flying to really determine if they are worth it. One thing I noticed immediately is there are no different texture sets like we are used to with GEPRO for ASV/ASE integration so I am not sure if they are going to look just as bright on a clear day as they do on an OC day...-Paul-P

So I have a question for the BEV users out there... When you use BEV does it use US textures all over the globe? Can I for example can I install Fs Scene to get the EU textures but then install BEV textures over the top and have them ONLY replace the US or do you get US textures everywhere because that is all BEV supports? Interested to hear...Thanks,-P

Paul, just reading your replies. For the record, could not wait for you to report back so I went ahead and bought the FScene X USA & Canada. :( Anyway, first impression was very much the same as yours. I needed sunglasses as it was so bright.Ok, my honest opinion:The textures are done very well and I am sure the gentlemen put a lot of time into these. I applaud him for doing so and providing us an alternative. My first flight with the textures were from KJAC (Jackson Hole) to KPHX (Phoenix) as I often fly into Phoenix in real life so I thought I would be able to judge very intently. Equipment - Boeing 757. IFR at 31,000.Leaving Jackson Hole it was snowing and the first thing that caught my eye, besides the awesome REX clouds, were the mountains which looked very nice. As it was very cloudy in this region, I did not get a real good look at the textures until I was out of the snow area near KGCN (Grand Canyon). The canyon textures looked very good and the desert regions were true to life. Descending into Phoenix is where I really began to see big differences. Bright pastel crayon green textures. Bright lime colored in many areas. The foilage on the other hand looked very nice and did give a 3D impression. But it was those darn pastels. Folks, the United States does not look like this in any of the 44 states I've visited. For comparison purposes, I watched a video I had shot in real life of our flight descending into Phoenix from the east. We then began a serious of low altitude turns (below 10,000) and aligned with 7R. In watching the video, nowhere do you see these crayon greens, limes, etc. Now this one thing I really liked about Ground Pro in that I could color the textures. I did so and made then much darker and truer to life. Unfortunately, we cant do this with these unless someone talented knows of a way.I truly believe that when a lot of people on these forums say one series of textures look more true to life than another is because they are folks who rarely, if ever, have flown at altitude. I honestly believe most are comparing what they see from ground level where yes colors are more vibrant. All in all, I love the textures with the exception of anything grass related. In fact, I prefer FScene X's desert and mountain textures. Most likely I will not do the time consuming process of identifying these textures and overriding them with my favorite Ground Pro setup. All the best,Mitch

what would be the proper install order for the following?FScene X, REX2004 (only for clouds) FSGenesis (mesh and landclass), Zinertek's Ultimate Water Advanced and Active Sky Evolution (only for weather)

Funny Mitch, We came to the exact same conclusion... I actually did load my GE PRO textures back though as these are just too bright for me here in NJ ;) ... Funny things is these are probably perfect for overseas but for the states the grass at the airport infields alone was enough to push me back to GE LOL... I could see using the FSScene textures in EU with BEV in the US though. Not sure how to configure that one though :( Cheers,-Paul

Only thing i like about Fscene is look of the cities. Besides that, everything else look more like bad photoshop picture, than the ground textures. Yellow and lime, bright green...not even close to EU ground look.

Yep, after using for a little while I have gone back to my GEPro textures... They looked good but the coloring was way too bright for me... So for me I think the best global textures are GEPro as BEV never got out of the States (although I haven't tried them at all so can not compare)Back to GEPro for me though...-Paul
