March 25, 201016 yr Hey guys, I'm new here this is my first post however I have been browsing the forum for a few days now. Basically I am going to upgrade my pc to run FSX. My system is currently as follows:Intel Pentium Dual E2140 1.6GhzAsrock conroe 1333-d6672GB DDR2 Kingston Ram250GB HDD.Windows XP HomeFrom what I've been reading on various forums this is the spec that I've come up with that is affordable to me and will be able to handle FSX.Pentium dual core E8400 3.0Ghzkeep existing motherboard for now.4GB RamKeep existing HDDNvidia 9800 GTX 512mb (I was going to go for the 9800GT 1GB but according to benchmarks the 9800gtx achieves better frame rates?)Windows XP HomeI may overclock the processor as 4ghz seems easily achievable. So what do you guys think? I know this question is asked all the time! but am I heading in the right direction?. Everyones going on about I7's but I really cant afford one.Any advice would be really appreciated!. :D
March 25, 201016 yr Dual-core -> dual-core isn't much of an upgrade, unless you intend upon having a HUGE clock differential. Get a quad-core or don't bother.
March 25, 201016 yr 1.6 GHz to 4 GHz IS a huge clock difference, and going from an OC on the E2140 at about 3 gigz to an OC on the E8400 at 4 gigz should still make an impact on the game.Opinions/experiences are drifting towards quad cores ARE better for FSX, and I "I´ll rather be down here wishing I was up there than be up there wishing I was down here"
