March 29, 201016 yr I am rebuilding my FS9 Program on a new computer that is running Windows 7 Pro64. I have reloaded a number of my Carenado aircraft and they are operating correctly. The original Carenado MJ20 package came with a small radio bug and a patch was provided to the user community within days. After flying a test flight with the MJ20 I realized that I needed to load the patch. I have the patch but I can not see the Carenado aircraft listed in my FS9 aircraft folder. Since the aircraft all work, the files must be invisible or hidden. How do I show the aircraft? Also, I can not modify any of the aircraft.cfg files directly. I need to take the config files to a temp folder, perform my updates, and then replace the folder once I receive permission. I have permissions turned on so I have no problem in the actual placement of the file, but I should be able to update the file without having to move to another folder.I am starting to rethink my purchase of Windows 7.Tom

Hence why you have to edit files outside that area. Vista and W7 behave very differently to XP in this respect.W7 is an excellent OS and I would stay with it. The easiest solution is to uninstall FS9 and reinstall it to C:\FS9 or a similar path on another drive. Probably not what you wanted to hear but I think it will solve all your problems. March 29, 201016 yr Author What I am seeing is that the Aerosoft Beaver, Katana, the Level-D 767-300ER, and even the Dreamfleet 727 (which has adifferent problem with Windows 7) are all visible in the aircraft folder. I loaded the Carenado C152 this afternoon and it too is also visible in the folder. There should be away to un-hide all of the aircraft folders. It just doen't make much sence that some are hidden and some are visible.Tom
March 29, 201016 yr Moderator I agree Tom and hopefully someone with W7 and FS9 will be able to answer your question. For any OS to do weird things like that is madness whatever other benefits it may bring.Try asking the question in the Windows 7 Forum Ray (Cheshire, England). March 30, 201016 yr I've not had any problems changing aircraft config files. The main program file of FS9 is protected. Be sure that you have UAC turned off. Its also a good idea to run as administrator. I have it set up under the default program, but to be honest, it hasn't been much of a hindrance. I don't have the Level D or PMDG planes so I can't help there. The control issues are much the same as in Vista.
