April 2, 201016 yr HiRecently my old ATI2900PRO died, and now I must choose something.I'm picking ATI HD4870 1Gb or ATI HD5770 1Gb.Which one to choose.My config:Intel C2 E6770, MBO Gigabyte P35DQ6, 4GB DDRThanksEdin
April 2, 201016 yr I love my 4870 -- I returned my 5870 because there was no real marked improvement in Frame Rates, and I've tried running 5 or 6 other cards, both ATI and nVIdia, before finally settling back on the 4870. Don't bother getting the 2X or OC models, it's just wasted money on MSFS.Where are you located? I have a 1 year old E8500 C2D (socket 775) that's just sitting on my desk since I swapped it out for my E8600 -- it's a rocket, and I'd let 'er go for $125 plus S+H if you wanted it. Now that would goose up your system. Smooth Skies! -- Chuck B. April 3, 201016 yr Author Thanks to all.I would go for ATI HD5770.About PSU I have Thermaltake Toughpower 750W which should be enough for this new card.Edin
April 5, 201016 yr Thanks to all.I would go for ATI HD5770.About PSU I have Thermaltake Toughpower 750W which should be enough for this new card.EdinIf you can afford it, I love my 5870. If you can wait, wait for reviews of the Nvidia GTX 480 coming out here in a week or so. If you can't afford it, save up a bit more. No use in having something that you'll just have to replace a few months down the road, yeah?

I don't want to spend more money for small performance jump.ThanksEdin
