April 3, 201016 yr Hi GuysI recently signed up on another (non FS) forum, and have been a little concerned about how they use my details...The forum has a thread containing a list of EVERYONE'S full name and address and email. I've never seen this done before, and wonder just how high a risk this poses? The forum is almost identical to this one - simply requiring a password to enter. What do you guys think please? Thanks Windows 10 (x64) - X-Plane 11 - M/B: Asus ROG Maximus IX Hero - CPU: i7 7700k (@5.0GHz) - RAM: 32Gb Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 @ 3200MHz - Video: GTX1080ti - Cooling: Custom water loop (EK 140 Revo D5 pump/res combo, EK EVO CPU block, EK XE360 Rad)
April 3, 201016 yr Hello,Had you check your details (in your personnal settings or forum control panel)This can be a option for hide your email adresse !Regards.Gus.
April 3, 201016 yr Hi Phil. I think, like you, I would be a bit nervous about such a site. Open listings of names, addresses and email seems to invite all sorts of wrong doing. I can not imagine a good reason why the operator of a forum would think that it was a good idea to have that info available for viewing at all! I would have to say the risk of misuse or abuse would have to be rather high.Best regards,Mel
April 3, 201016 yr Author It does seem very bizarre. It's nothing to do with settings being hidden or not. It's a hand typed list actually in the thread, supposedly to enable all members to know each other!!??Are there not things like 'bots' or something seaching for this very data? I'd be leery of and/or stay away from said forum.
