April 6, 201016 yr The proper thing to do after you cross BAF is cancel IFR, descend to pattern altitude and land. :( Great restaurant on field, and they are seriously some of the nicest folks around.(Also, I didn't realize that VFR flight following goes in, too. I can see my flight to and from Block Island this morning on there! I'd put a link up, but my tracking of the VOR left much to be desired :( )I'll keep that in mind-always looking for a good restaurant on the field... I also found my destination not only had fuel under $4.00 but was also a great place to go. I'll be doing the $100 hamburger thing there in the future. Geofa WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE-the best Flight Sim!
April 6, 201016 yr And F-15s, sometimes! Forgot about that.Anyway, another place to go for realistic IFR routes is to take a look at the FAA's preferred routes. They're found in the back of the Airport/Facility Directories, for a quite a number of domestic airport pairs (though there didn't seem to be one for KCMI->KORD - maybe a TEC route?). I guess their the routes that ATC would like you to file for given city pairs, but someone who actually flies in the system regularly can comment about how frequently you actually get them (I don't have my IFR ticket yet). You can get A/FDs and all the rest of the NACO products at http://aeronav.faa.gov/.
