April 17, 201016 yr Most likely thos two big psd files are the files available for repaintpurposes. ( They are probably layered files)You`ll have to open and edit them in a painting program like Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro.You might consider to use free programs like The Gimp on Paint.net.Using a program like Microsoft Paint is not possible for layered files.Leen de Jager
April 18, 201016 yr Painting the 2 big Files is no Problem. I have PSP & Gimp , but how i become from the 2 big Files theneeded small Files for the Skin (i mean F1_PC12_F1_T.dds , and so on).Converting to dds is not the Problem.GreetingsRygar
April 18, 201016 yr Oh I see what you mean.I am not familiar with this plane, but I think you have to cut those files into pieces, wich gives you the needed textures.Look for cutting-markings on the PSD texture.Probably there is a layer with these markings ( usually red or blue stripes or crosses )Leen
April 19, 201016 yr The large PSD files are meant to be converted using Text-o-Matic which converts the large file into the smaller ones automatically .Normally that is supplied with the CD but you can also download it at Flight1 . Don't forget there are two versins of the programme , for FS 9 and FS X .Pay a visit to the support forums at Flight1 where everything is explained .John
April 20, 201016 yr When making your repaint ( with PSP or whatever ) , you have to save into the templates map of Text-o-Matic your paint as a bmp . Give the bmp an original name . With the psd file the top layer is your alpha layer , this has to be saved as a seperate bmp with the same name as your paint with _a on the end . Don't forget to save your paint as a PSD file first , using Save as ( you'll find out why when you do not ) and then before closing Save again this tiime as .BMP ( - this has to be saved into the Text-o-Matic templates file ) .So if your repaint is ( I use the registration as this is unique ) called G-BRIT then the alpha layer HAS to be called G-BRIT_a , also in the FS X version you can place your thumbnail.jpg into the same map and this is also converted for you .This is all explained in the read me supplied with Text-o-Matic . So try reading that first .John
April 21, 201016 yr There is something puzzling me.The Flight1 PC12 has diffuse DDS files AND Specular DDS files.(I think)The Text-o-Matic however just handles the diffuse BMP and its alpha.Does this mean the new created livery uses the original speculars behind the new diffuse-textures?If so, this means that if we want to make a real fine repaint with speculars dedicated to the diffuse-textures ,we will have to use the manual method and forget about the Text-o-Matic.*Sean Doran made several repaints for the Fligh1 PC12 and he did not use the Text-o-Matic.I had a look at his files and I noticed he edited the speculars as well.Due to this all I get the impression Text-o-Matic is not suitable for painters who are going to the edge using edited specs and higer resolutions.I really hope I am wrong about this.In the past I was struggling with Text-o-Matic , it was only making DXT3 files with mips for FS9, just the two things I hated in FS9 texturising. Then I splitted up the paintkit in individual texturesheets.*RegardsLeen
