  1. What, no Airbusses JanKees !! Like the Air Jamaica paint, very colourful.
  2. Oh , the irony . What's in a name ! Maybe time to change your forum name ? John
  3. @ Jim , I was merely stating that I'm finished posting , not leaving , I didn't get involved in this thread until 16 pages had already been written and full of posts from people who were for or against anything and everything , I had a legitimate question and was neither positive or negative in anything I posted . Neither did I feel the need to report anyone even after being accused of trying to incite trouble , even though I still fail to see where that is coming from , or deaf , or failing to understand my own language . Unfortunately it seems that if someone doesn't agree with a persons point of view entirely ( and not just here ) , it can turn nasty in the blink of an eye , insults are " seen " with every word whether real or imaginary . I think that after being a member here for several years and with less than 300 posts , that proves that I do not come here to " stir the pot " in any shape or form . I did not watch the entire 4 hour " video " promo on the FSL Bus , so maybe I did miss out on something really important but what I did see made me not bother to see the rest as every oppurtunity was taken to rubbish another developers work . That was not the reason I started to watch in the first place , I went there to be informed with a view to purchasing it and possibly making a series of paints ( as I have done with the " other " Bus ) but as I posted earlier , my loss , no-one elses . John
  4. Funny how I was accused of " stirring the pot " , I made a post ( now on page 16 ) and asked a perfectly legitimate question ( which until now has not been answered ) and it seems that a few others agreed . Maybe it's a good thing you cannot be " downvoted " anymore . As for the post count that anyone has or does not have , " my " generation ( or at least my family ) was raised with the notion that if you have nothing to say , say nothing . Having only a few posts under my belt doesn't make me an expert ( or troublemaker ) on any subject that I cared to post in . I don't know if many have read this post : http://www.avsim.com/topic/492240-beta-testing/ and although not mandatory , it would make things much clearer when we know where some of you " hang their hats " . With that I'm finished here , as far as posting is concerned , this love / hate thing that is constantly shown ( not just AVSIM ) in just about every thread ever started is not worth the bother . John
  5. I think you will find that the pot was already well stirred long before I arrived and I certainly wasn't looking for attention . As for my profile , it merely states that I reside in the Netherlands , not that I was born there and as an ex-member of Her Majesty's Armed Forces I have no difficulty understanding the Queen's English . From my earlier post , nothing negative ( or positive there either ) . My " expertise " is painting , not flying but I can't see myself paying such a price in order to be able to make any liveries . My loss , no-one elses . John Glanville
  6. Well maybe I need my ears cleaning but did I also mishear some of the snide remarks about " other developers " ? John
  7. Having just watched about half of a 4 hour love fest on twitch made by Belynz , one of the developers ( starting around 1:40 ) stated that there is no " upgrade " to P3D and that you will have to pay the full price ( whatever that will eventually be ) . In the past have watched several of Belynz's earlier flights made with one of the " other " Busses and it's surprising how quickly opinions change . What was good ( enough ) in the past is now worth a lot less for some reason . As for the closed thread on the Aerosoft forum ( now removed ) , that was hardly surprising considering some of the comments and language used . People have been banned from other forums ( PMDG / ORBX ) for a lot less . John
  8. Maybe someone can explain this " fixation " on having failures included in a software product . Or being able to press the Fire Test buttons . Are you going to be doing this for every flight ? The same with wing flex , do ( real ) pilots rush into the cabin during a flight to look at the wings flapping up and down ? If the real aircraft , whether it is a Boeing or Airbus is prone to having inflight emergencies on every single flight , would anyone want to fly in one , pilots included ? Yes , I am aware thet real pilots train for this but they don't do it every flight and that is the same for every trade , at some stage even safety training becomes a chore when it is constantly repeated with unexpected results . I understand that the failures can be switched off , I just wonder how long it will take before that happens . I know there are many hardcore simulator pilots ( I spend more time painting them than flying ) but if you have made your flightplan with the latest AIRAC and using the latest flightplan software for your 2 or 3 hour flight , collected all relevant charts , loading cargo and or passengers and gone through all procedures before starting the engines and taking off only to have to divert to another airfield because of an " emergency " then I fail to see the point . Why not just take off and fly in any direction until the emergency occurs . As for all the comments about the pricing or which simulated product is better ( or worse ) than the other , this happens each time any new software is released , so nothing new there . If there's enough hype people will buy anything at any price even if you don't " need " to have it . The regret ( or pleasure ) comes later . John
  9. I have several OS's from XP to W10 and use Easy BCD from Neo Smart Technologies and works perfectly . You might want to clone your W7 disk and install W10 on that . Did this myself with no problems . John
  10. @ haseen You already know why Aerosoft do not support any accelearated time in the sim , if you had asked ( or searched ) in the Aerosoft forum . The Airbus needs 18 frames per second for the fly-by-wire system and Aerosoft simply cannot guarantee a stable flight when flying at 8X ( or 4X for that matter ) or feel the need to alter this . So if you have more than 144 fps , it won't be a problem , will it ? It's not as though a 2 hour flight is " long " by anyone's standards . As for any of PMDG's aircraft being able to fly at 8X you might want to visit their forum as it would appear that not everyone would agree . Also compare the prices of these products , it really is apples and oranges . It's funny how most want it " as real as it gets " but also want extra's added so that it becomes " realer " . I've said it before but if Aerosoft brought out a 18 carat gold DVD series with the Airbus A318/319/320/321 with every possible repaint included , navdata updates free for life and a Personal Install Service where an Aerosoft employee comes to your house to install everything , someone would complain because the DVD's weren't 24 carat gold . John
  11. @ Leen , I doubt if the OP is still waiting for an answer , post is from August 2015 . Agree 100% with the sentiment though . John
  12. Funny that , I must have it all backwards . I was taught that if I ask for help it is up to me to make the effort , all that was known from the OP was it was a paint for a B737-800 , which one ? There are quite a few and each paint kit is different . I myself am no stranger to painting and have uploaded quite a few to the library from different developers . As I pointed out earlier the more info given means less questions after . Nowhere in my post did I mock the OP for his use of the English language but the last time I looked this is an English language forum and by replying in another language is simply preventing others from offering any assistance ( using Google translate is generally a waste of time and not known for being entirely accurate ) . There is a French forum further down the page , though that would probably mean waiting even longer . The " self-entitlement " had to do with asking a question and expecting an instant reply . That isn't always the case here and was during the day time in Europe when most are at work . Not everyone spends 24 hours a day on AVSIM . John
  13. @ Mike , There was no " lecture " , merely pointing out that placing a " sad face " icon after waiting " patiently " ( for less than 6 hours ) for an answer to half a question just shows the self-entitlemnet that some have here . If I go to a travel agents and say that I want to go on holiday , they MAY have a few questions for me but if I tell them WHERE and WHEN I want to go that helps . The more information given in the first place when asking for help means that others do not have to play 20 questions . How often have you seen posting that simply states , " I downloaded a livery and it doesn't work " . Not very helpful is it ? @ OP , Of course posting now in French is going to exclude the majority of providing any help as they may not find it neccessary to learn another language to even know wat is being said . John
  14. So after less that 6 hours you are complaining that no-one answered ? You might not believe it , but most painters here do have a life outside flight simming and probably work during the day . You do not explain exactly what you are trying to do either , so how can you expect any useful feedback ? The same applies when forum members make repaint requests , if someone helps , that is great but if no-one replies , they move on or ask elsewhere . John Glanville
  15. Isn't everyone forgetting that Flight School is not aimed at the expert armchair pilot , it's for newcomers . It wont stop people from buying it for whatever reason . That Froogle doesn't provide a glowing review will have no bearing on future sales and the whole point of a review is in being honest about " your " findings and no-one else's , negative or positive . As for Squirrel , I have seen most of his videos and he can be annoying at times and this is certainly what is happening with his Flight School reviews . Instead of paying attention to what is being said by the instructor , he decides that the instructor is giving false information and simply does his own thing , again using his " experience " from other flight sims . Anyone who has flown the lessons in FS9 and FSX will know that not following the instructions given by Rod , you just will not pass the checkride . Even his questioning the timer to gain access to the checkride it is clear ( to me - and I don't even have the program ) that it has to do with Solo flight time and not the time taken during " lessons " . Having watched his Euro and American Truck Simulator or Train sim sessions on You Tube you can't help noticing that whenever it goes " pear shaped " , it's always the sims fault ( speeding fines or missing red signals ) instead of paying attention ( normally swanning around in spot view ) . Maybe something similar to the " stories " about Chris Evans on Slop Gear as it has been said that he cannot drive and speak at the same time . John
  16. In my post I wrote " Doesn't the blame lie partly with the customer themselves ? " So if a developer is nagged by customers to add features to a scenery / aircraft that end up costing frame rates ( and VAS usage ) , it's the developers fault for giving in to demands ? That certainly sounds right ( NOT ) . As you used Aerosoft as an example , consider their AirbusX series . Just compare the original AirbusX ( released in 2010 ) with the AirbusX Extended ( released in 2012 ) and the latest A320/321 ( released in 2014 ) . So much has changed since the original that they have become 3 separate products with added " features " in each version . The minus side is of course that with each feature the frame rates have become more critical , not forgetting that you need a minimum of 18 fps otherwise the FBW system is " broken " . All of these extra features have been asked for / begged for / demanded by the " customer " ( and are still being made ) , so should Aerosoft have just ignored all " requests " . That wouldn't win them any friends either . As for scenery , as I mentioned earlier , modelling the interior of the terminal , followed by vast areas surrounding the airport , car parks full of cars ( the list goes on ) are all " features " that everybody seems to want these days , some developers have made this possible , others are obviously not as proficient . With the scenery in question it is not even an Aerosoft product , they are just the distributor , so can hardly be held accountable . There are so many factors that affect frame rates , even with similar PC's , what runs at acceptable frames for one , could be a slide show for another . Why else are sites such as AVSIM full of topics on this very subject ? John
  17. You don't mention the developer of the scenery but don't you have to tune one of the NAV radio's for the " gates " to open ? John
  18. Doesn't the blame lie partly with the customer themselves ? People are always asking developers for more detail in sceneries ( and aircraft ) but surely this comes at a cost . Not everyone has a super computer on loan from NASA and we are stuck with the 4GB limit anyway . I fail to understand the latest trend of including the interior of the terminal buildings as this has nothing to do with flying a plane and it is not as if you are going to look inside the building every time you go flying , same with everyone's favourite , " wingflex " do you spend the entire flight hanging on to the outside of the aircraft just so you can look in awe . Has very little to do with " as real as it gets " , seeing that the pilot can't do it in real life either ( plus of course that he has other things to do ) . All of these extra " features " cost frames and frames per second are more important than flapping wings or being able to look at the check-in desk at your local airport . John
  19. Read the title of the OP . Also , nowhere in my post did I say RTFM , merely suggested visiting the ASN forum OR that reading the manual " might " provide answers . There again , people only read what they want to in a post , so if you have a problem with that you can always use the report button ( next to the " MultiQuote " option ) . John
  20. Wasn't meant as such but when people insist on buying addons to make it " as real as it gets " ( in this case the weather ) but don't have the neccessary skills as a " real " pilot to compensate when they do happen , what else can you say . Does a real pilot press " P " , pull out his laptop and make a post on AVSIM asking for help ? Or does he use his expertise and carry on . Everyone " seems " to want turbulence , windshear etc. , etc. but there are more questions here ( on AVSIM ) regarding switching these " functions " off or lessening the effect just because they cannot cope when they occur . Maybe dropping a line to ASN might be a better course of action to find a solution , or even better , actually reading the manual that comes with the product . John
  21. To compensate , use what others call " flying " . John
  22. Try moving your viewpoint ( in other words - zooming out ) . John
  23. Is Boeing short of money ? With the prices they are asking , they at least they make PMDG look cheap . John
  24. As a painter I find ( especially ) with American airlines that they also use a fleet number . Looking at N771UA these are the numbers on the gearbay doors for the nose wheel ( in this case 2471 ) . Airlines such as Northwest / Delta add the number 2 to the registration , so for example N301US becomes 3201 as fleet number . This number is then placed on the tailfin ( Delta ) or nose section ( Northwest ) . hope this helps . John
  25. Didn't realise I was asking too much , it's not like it's the first time that someone ( suddenly ) discovers that FS9 flightplans don't work in FSX without being converted ( as if there are no other posts here on AVSIM on this very subject ) . How many threads start here with ... I downloaded an aircraft and it doesn't work ... without naming several crucial points , mainly the name of the download and where it was downloaded from . As I wrote earlier , it's great that the OP has found the solution to his problem , just that it doesn't help anyone else who may have downloaded the same flightplans . That the answer is to download , install and run AIFP ( after installing any flightplans ) is possibly just not known to other users and that should have been more prominent as the solution . John
