Tile loading questions

Featured Replies

Hi all, Yesterday I ran TileProxy with very few issues...This morning I tried it out and found very large areas of very pixelated textures mixed with correctly loaded textures...Also, some of the areas that were correctly loaded would pop into the "pixellated" version, and then back to the high-resolution version. Sometimes this happened immediately, sometimes the textures stayed pixellated. Not sure if there are some graphics setting I should be adjusting, but I am using the Yahoo maps.Any thoughts?thanks!Andrew

Andrew,It's been a while, but I might have seen such 'disruption' of the scenery. Not likely a Yahoo thing...Perhaps it's just not enough memory to show everything at the desired range. If it happened to me today, I'd look at task manager display to see if my memory was about max'd out.Restart using less range and other settings.Check other processes running and how much memory they are using.Increase thecache_bytes_limit=500000000 (my setting)cache_tiles_limit=100000 (my setting)Turn off Watermasking if you are FSX and away from ocean - smaller file sizes with watermasking off.what cpu speed: how much memory: what range and detail level are you running?Does the problem occur at other locations?Does the problem occur with simpler aircraft?Do you have weather options on or weather off? Many ways to reduce workload for testing...Loyd

Hey Loyd-Thanks for the note... I didn't realize anyone had replied - will check this out tonite.FWIW I restarted and set the radius a little lower and it seems to have take care of it... my system is fairly low- end (Dell optiplex 330, 2gb ram) but it's Ok.With tileproxy I don't miss autogen quite as much!cheersAndrew
