what would you do?

In light of the recent developments with ATI cards and vsync, I am stuck with making a decision between TH2go or an ati card. currently use a gtx 260, I can pretty much max things out with this card and run an avg of 25 fps.I am more concerned with which one will at a minimum keep the performance where it is and hopefully not lose any.thxric

If you can max things out, why do you wanna buy a new card?

Athlon3700+@3ghz, 6600GT, RadeonX700pro, 2G RAM, Win7, FSX, 1 x LG1680-1050, 2 x Philips1024-768

What I want: I7-930, X58, 3 x 1920-1080 with 3D spacegoggles, NO TH2G, NO Eyefinity, NO Sli, NO Crossfire

How are you "maxing things out" an an X2 6000+?

I dont know how or why it runs the way it does, it just does. Now this is using the default beaver. I dont think I will get the same level of performace on larger a/c. I want a triple view so I am not sure which would be the best choice. I hear gripes about th2go and the gripes about vsync with ati. I have been messing around w/ softth, it works but it kills the performanceI think what makes a huge difference is I have 3 sata drives. xp 64 only on a vr 10k fsx alone on a vr 10k and xp 32 on the third that i switch to in the bios for everything else

Eric- If you want triple VIEWS, that can be done only with 2D panels and you get a 135

Alex,I hear what you are saying. I have set things up just how you explained in other threads. The view point that is achieved is very impressive. However, it KILLS the performance for me. I would use your layout in a heartbeat if I can get around the drop in performance. If I could learn how to post shots on here I would put a couple up with frame rates and my settings and show you the difference. Maybe you could offer some clues on setting me straight. After reading how to adjust for the bezels and horizon, I still dont understand. I also can't find which values to change in the panel cfg.Eric

----------------------eric- when it comes to "performance" with multi mons, disregard frame rate. The question is- "is it smooth?". Of course frame rates are impacted- my CPU has to work three times as hard with triple views. Two quick tips- NEVER allow a VIEW on one monitor to overlap an adjacent monitor- not even by a sliver! Big Frame rate hit. Also large, 2D complex popups such as Overhead panels burn up CPU horsepower- only open as necessary.I set up multi views with main monitor & view forward only, and adjust FS settings so I get a steady 30-50 FPS. When I open the outer L/R Fwd views, FPS drop about 50% to the 15-25 range. Sounds awful- but in fact when the views are adjusted for bezel separation and become a unified single wide view as far as your brain can tell- things are just as smooth as single monitor only. Reason is that 2/3 of the whole pic is always dead stopped- PERFECTLY SMOOTH. Your brain then sees the whole thing as very smooth- even if the updating of the third monitor might normally be detectable. If you like Virtual cockpit, I know of no reason why TH2Go would hurt performance- after all it is simply displaying a single view spread over 3 monitors. Because the view is effectively blown up to triple size, your resolution will likely need to be increased to avoid a coarse pic- this of course will impact frame rate.Triple views with a 2D panel can run with a very low resolution since each view is separate.Look back in this forum- lots posted on this subject.Alex Reid
