May 6, 201016 yr The AVSIM library is still finding files that were corrupted when the server was hacked, so they are contacting the authors for replacement. This is good news. However, I've run into a snag with one set of my TerraScenery for Fly!II. I have back-ups of all my projects except for my Arizona Project Packs. I have the full scenery pods, but not the packs and kits which would be necessary for others to use in order to generate their own sceneries. Ironically, a drive failure took out the packs and kits before they were archived. I didn't worry about it at the time, as I figured I'd just download my own stuff and archive it - obviously, I waited too long. :( Right now the library is looking to replace the following item: Phoenix Image Repair Kit #1 Download ID: 33435 Filename: phx_repair_1.zip This kit contained supplemental edited minitiles of the day image for my Phoenix TerraScene Project Pack, correcting anomalies and removing inappropriate markings from portions of the landscape. If any of you still have this kit on your drive in its original form and are willing to either send it to me via my FTP account or re-upload it to the library with an ID I will provide, I would greatly appreciate it! Randall,I have the file and can do this whichever way you wish. May be easier though if you send me the ID. I will PM you my email if you do not still have it. Yahoo account or hotmail - either way. :(Anything else you might need, just holler at me and I will look to see if I still have it on my backup drive or CDs.Cheers! ___________________________ Kenneth E Wood Jr 🌪️🌩️ ex AG1, USN (14yr Vet) Weather Foecaster
May 7, 201016 yr Author Hi Ken,Miracle of miracles - it appears I have the files after all! In one of those great computer surprises, I was checking on some images to be uploaded with other files to the library and discovered copies of the Arizona packages in a sub folder. I have no idea how they got there, but they are intact - all I have to do is repod them and send them on their way. (I will also add them to my archives). :( I really appreciate your willingness to help in this regard - needless to say, if I have any issues with these files or the library requests any others I can't locate, I'll contact you right away.I guess the library managers have reached the Fly! area in their reconstruction work - I'm getting about 3 requests a day from them for replacements. Since most of my contributions are rather large scenery packages, this is taking a bit of time, but I'm sure happy to see them restored. Randall Rocke
May 8, 201016 yr Glad to hear you were able to locate the wayward files, Randall! I am glad to have most files I downloaded either on CD backup or my one backup drive. Am sure I've missed some of the TSPaks you had made way back, but I can usually find most stuff - least what had been of great interest to me and my Fly!ing needs. A pleasure to have been in situation to help. Any time, Sir. :( Cheers,Ken ___________________________ Kenneth E Wood Jr 🌪️🌩️ ex AG1, USN (14yr Vet) Weather Foecaster
May 15, 201016 yr Author OK, Ken - I've now discovered the loss of one file set for sure (not bad, considering the amount of sceneries). Would you happen to have a copy of my: Knoxville Image Repair Kit? I can't recall whether I had just one or two kits for that scenery, but if you have any of them, let's work out a way to get it restored. The File Library managers haven't hit me with a request yet, but I see that it was mentioned in my instructions for the Knoxville scenery of my Carolinas TerraScene set. That one I don't seem to have on the main back-up. Will check my CDs and see if it is hiding there!9:50am EDTWell, bad news. I do not seem to have that one (much less any of the Carolina's project files!!). I guess I was using AVSIM for my "back-up).. Darn. I have the Savannah section, but that's about all. It could be in a set of disks I have in storage, but unfortunately that box is up in Atlanta, and I'' six hours away from there. But still and all, let me know if there's something else as I may have it.Check your PM - may have found Todd for you!Cheers,Ken ___________________________ Kenneth E Wood Jr 🌪️🌩️ ex AG1, USN (14yr Vet) Weather Foecaster
May 19, 201016 yr Author Thanks! It's going to be ironic if that's the only thing that ends up missing! Randall Rocke
May 20, 201016 yr Thanks! It's going to be ironic if that's the only thing that ends up missing! :( Well I for one am thankful that the vast majority of your scenery paks appear to have survived the hacking. Once I can afford a TB external drive, I'm going to get one and will be sure I DL and back up majority of the Fly! II stuff I failed to get previously. Once I get WINE working properly I'll be shifting to Linux full time - and hopefully will get Fly!II running much more smoothly than it has with just a base install. Just a lot of learning with WINE. OR - I may just keep one computer running XP offline simply for Fly!II. Granted, Win7 runs it, but the laptop prefers 1366x768 and I cannot handle my cockpit being squeezed down to 1024x768. Worse than watching a LTRBox movie on a TV without 16:9 enhancement!! :( Many Cheers! ___________________________ Kenneth E Wood Jr 🌪️🌩️ ex AG1, USN (14yr Vet) Weather Foecaster
May 20, 201016 yr Author I'm receiving about 2 requests a day for more file replacements from the library, so it appears that many of my files were among the damaged. Again, so far, it appears the only original I don't have is the Knoxville Repair Kit, so I hope someone has a copy to provide. If not, I'll have to regenerate the scenery, look over all the tiles to see which needed editing, then depod the edited tiles from my own scenery set, then repackage them in a kit. Randall Rocke
