Obtaining B/C/D Clearance ?

Featured Replies

I'm not a real pilot, I'm a casual FSX sim pilot. I have a question(s) about the appropriate protocols when flying VFR near airports. If flying with "Flight Following" and nearing near or entering into a D/C/B airport area, do I need ATC clearance? At times I see an option in the ATC to select the clearance, other times I don't. Also FSX-ATC requests, after approval is granted, to inform them that you're leaving the clearance area,... wonder why, can't they see that I'm leaving or have left the area? Also, if flying IFR is it necessary to obtain clearances ? Those are some of my clearance questions, thank you. :( Tony

Hi Tony.Flight following is related to VFR / VMC and you do need to tell them when you want to terminate / end the service, and you must Close your flight plan, in real flying. You do Not need to contact any of the other entities when you enter CDE Airspace, unless told by ATC otherwise, and they will tell you contact

Avcomware, thanks for the information, from what you said, I guess that I can kinda ignore the options provided by FSX-ATC for permissions to enter B/C/D areas after obtaining "Flight Following" or flying IFR.

You do Not need to contact any of the other entities when you enter CDE Airspace, unless told by ATC otherwise, and they will tell you contact
