Need helping modifying runway surface

Featured Replies

I have an issue with PMDG 747-400, i.e the plane crashes while still on the runway. In the support forum for PMDG I have been told that this is because the runway in question (DTTA) is bitumous and I need to change it with a AFCAD editor. So I have found AFCAD version 2.21 by Sword Lee. According to this program the runways at DTTA is concrete but nevertheless I changed that to asphalt and saved when prompted if I wan't to save the changes. If I then restart AFCAD the runways are listed as asphalt so the editor did indeed save the changes. When I start FS9 the scenery database is updated which I would expect. The when going to DTTA and open the world map I see that DTTA still has bitumous runways according to FS9. And indeed PMDG 747-400 still crash during takeoff run.

While in the AFCAD program did you change Runway 'links' (the black lines) to asphalt as well? The links need to be changed as well as the runway properties change. Hope that helps. BTW, I just opened the MS FS9 stock version of DTTA and as you stated the runway properties tab says the runways are Bitumus, but the links are set to concrete. If you are not using the stock airport and you have no duplicate afcad then setting the runway property to asphalt and all of the links all to asphalt should work. (Same for the default airport.)Best regards,Mel

No I didn't but I did after reading this post. Now the plane didn't crash during takeoff but the cockpit still jumped up and down slightly durint the takeoff run which I have been told is an indication of the problem. Also in FS9 MAP the runway info is still listed as being bitumunus while AFCAD now consequently says asphalt. And BTW I don't use the default airport but a freeware DTTA addon.
