ASE/RC4 problem

Featured Replies

I have reinstalled FSX, RC4 and ASE (Active Sky Evolution)RC4 works fine, but with ASE I have a problem.I must use ASE with DWC (Direct Wind Control) to get ASE to control FSX weather. When DWC is used RC4 operates normally until approach contol. With approach control RC4 operates very slowly including landing before clearance to land.Any ideas on how to correct this problem? Thanks, zach

In general ASE is a very performance demanding application. See if the latest service pack helps.Hi-Fi Sim has their own support forum now here as well as on AVSIM:http://www2.hifisim.com/forumService packs are here:http://www2.hifisim.com/node/9Briefly reading the ASE manual DWC introduces an error for RC in that in FSX it forces global weather mode. This means that in the FS universe, weather is the same all over as depicted by your aircraft location. This can give you erroneous surface weather reports regarding ATIS.For performance considerations I think you have the option of using FSUIPC4 instead of SimConnect to interface ASE with FSX. The effects of DWC wind smoothing can now be set in FSUIPC as directed in the ASE manual and you'll probably get more correct weather plus performance increase with DWC now off. Since I use FS9 and don't have ASE I'm just estimating here. I don't think RC uses much more in resources during approach but the FS environment does with generally increased AI rendering. With DWC enabled and during aircraft descent the wind environment immediately surrounding the aircraft changing as you get nearer the surface I would imagine the weather write resources used by DWC increase due to its required use of global weather mode.
