June 12, 201015 yr Please some tips on how to set FSX.cfg exactlyNo-one is going to give you exactly the right settings for your fsx.cfg, JuneK, but I will give you what currently works for me, plus the extras that have been the subject of lots of posts this last two months:Additions to my "normal" (not "Maddog_fsx.cfg") fsx.cfg: *************************************************************[GRAPHICS]//ForceFullScreenVSync=1 // bojoteForceWindowedVSync=1 TEXTURE_MAX_LOAD=1024HIGHMEMFIX=1 // bojoteALLOW_SHADER_30=1 // SHADER_CACHE_VERSION=9872437 // this can be any number, forces rebuild of shader cache.STALE_BUFFER_THRESHOLD=1024 // bojoteChangeTime=4.000000TransitionTime=4.000000SHADER_PARTIAL_PRECISION=1SHADER_OPTIMIZE=1D3D10=0//[Display]TEXTURE_BANDWIDTH_MULT=40UPPER_FRAMERATE_LIMIT=24WideViewAspect=True//TextureMaxLoad=9 // bojoteRUNWAY_LIGHTS_VASI_SCALAR=0.4RUNWAY_LIGHTS_SURFACE_SCALAR=0.4RUNWAY_LIGHTS_STROBE_SCALAR=0.6RUNWAY_LIGHTS_APPROACH_SCALAR=0.4//[bufferPools]UsePools=0 // bojote//[Main]//DisablePreload=1FIBER_FRAME_TIME_FRACTION=0.20 // 0Location=1305,11,2551,957,\\.\DISPLAY1Maximized=1//[Weather]CLOUD_DRAW_DISTANCE=3DETAILED_CLOUDS=1CLOUD_COVERAGE_DENSITY=7//[DISPLAY.Device.ATI Radeon HD 5800 Series.0] // <-- Put your device hereMode=3840x1024x16 // <-- and here.Anisotropic=1AntiAlias=1//[TrafficManager] // MyTrafficX v5.3 settingsAirlineDensity=10GADensity=25FreewayDensity=20ShipsAndFerriesDensity=0LeisureBoatsDensity=0IFROnly=0AIRPORT_SCENERY_DENSITY=0//[TERRAIN]LOD_RADIUS=4.500000MESH_COMPLEXITY=52MESH_RESOLUTION=22TEXTURE_SIZE_EXP=10TEXTURE_RESOLUTION=28AUTOGEN_DENSITY=4DETAIL_TEXTURE=1WATER_EFFECTS=6//IMAGE_PIXELS_FOR_AUTOGEN_POLYGONS=64MIN_DETAIL_TEXTURE_LEVEL=21 // bojote Default is 15MAX_DETAIL_TEXTURE_LEVEL=21 // bojote Default is 21 TERRAIN_MAX_AUTOGEN_TREES_PER_CELL=700TERRAIN_MAX_AUTOGEN_BUILDINGS_PER_CELL=600//**********************************************************1). Install Bojote's Shader mod to go with the Shader settings in the [Graphics] section. You MUST do this.2). Install the Vista 64-bit version of the UIAuotmationCore.dll into the FSX root folder. http://www.search-dll.com/dll-files/downlo...oncore.dll.html version 6.0.5840.163863). You will need to read up on and modify the %FSX Root%\WaterConstants.Xml in order to achieve superb-looking water.JuneK - you will need to use Bojote's "BufferPools -conclusions" pinned post at the top to set your sliders to. He winds back the AG and the Scenery Complexity sliders to zero - then adds them one step at a a time in order to find the "best" setting. Anybody else - feel free to critique this config. It might not be perfect, and I might have forgotten something. I use this config called from a DOS menu - as "normal" for anywhere outside of the big cities. I have a second one for that, plus a third one for use with the Maddog/FSPassengers/ASE/PNW/KSEA, and a fourth one for the original FSX.cfg that I can switch back to in case anything goes wrong... I will post this if anyone needs to know how it's done. i7 [email protected] | 32GB RAM | EVGA RTX 3080Ti | Maximus Hero VII | 512GB 860 Pro | 512GB 850 Pro | 256GB 840 Pro | 2TB 860 QVO | 1TB 870 EVO | Seagate 3TB Cloud | EVGA 1000 GQ | Win10 Pro | EK Custom water cooling.

June 13, 201015 yr I thought the tweek:STALE_BUFFER_THRESHOLD=1024 // bojotewas to be set to your target frame-rate?Having just done a search - yes - you're right, Jeroen.. I have no idea how it came to be 1024.. must been using my left hand, perhaps..could be the demon rum.. I will change it forthwith. June 13, 201015 yr Should that line still be added if using an external frame limiter?Don't know, Dougal - I don't use the limiter. Changing to 24 made no difference that I could see - but like a lot of things - there have been so many suggestions and possibilities made over the last two months that it's been tough to try them, keep them in order, make sure they do apply and fix the pc/fsx when they go very wrong. I've rebuilt FSX at least once because of the graphics errors - the bizarre turbine blades in the fuselage, tailplane sticking out of the nose - that kind of thing - and not knowing the "fix". I know it now, and don't make the mistake any more. i7 [email protected] | 32GB RAM | EVGA RTX 3080Ti | Maximus Hero VII | 512GB 860 Pro | 512GB 850 Pro | 256GB 840 Pro | 2TB 860 QVO | 1TB 870 EVO | Seagate 3TB Cloud | EVGA 1000 GQ | Win10 Pro | EK Custom water cooling.
