June 14, 201015 yr My current processor runs at 2.6. I use FS9 and get 30 FPS steady. If I use certain addons such as AI, it goes down to 11 FPS. I bought a new motherboard for 100$, but don't have the money to buy a new processor. So If I over clock it to 3.5ish, will it make a difference if I have a I3 CPU or a Intel D? I have a descent GPU, a Gforce 8800. *I went a long time w/ out AI and got 45 FPS, but I just installed it, now addicted....The tradeoff-15 fps :(And I have 2GB of RAM My current processor runs at 2.6. June 14, 201015 yr If you can scrape up $50-$60 you can get a Pentium Dual-Core E5xxx series chip that will beat the snot out of that Pentium D. Even if you overclock the Pentium D. Even if you leave the Pentium E5xxx @ stock. If you overclock the E5xxx you'll have more performance than will ever be needed for FS9.
June 14, 201015 yr Hmm 60$ isn't bad. I fly RW too, so it kinda empties my pockets lol. So with the E5XXX I should be able to run FS9 with full AI with 25+ FPS?
June 15, 201015 yr Ok I just bought the E6500 @ 2.93...Hopefully I will see a difference..You will notice a big difference compared to your Pentium D enjoy your new fps ;) please post you results back.
