Normandy scenery

Featured Replies

I D/Led and installed the MAAM.org scenery for Normandy Cemetery per the instructions provided. When I restarted FS09 I received the message saying new scenery files were being loaded. However I can not find the scenery or a flight anywhere in FS09. Any help?

It should be close to these coordinates:N49 22.73 W0 54.58Edit added:Robert A. Baum has come to come to the rescue by creating a simple AFCAD2 file for the MAAM-Sim American Cemetery Normandy scenery, France. There is a "start" location which will put you on the dirt road beside the cemetary and there is an NDB in the middle of the cemetary so you can navigate to it from a distance of 112 mile by tuning your ADF to 379.0. The filename is acnafcad.zip and it is available at Flightsim.com.To find the Cemetery you can also takeoff from Carpiquet, France - LFRK. Use runway 31, which is normally the active runway. Fly the runway heading towards the coast and you should see the Cemetery on the bluff overlooking the English Channel.Hope this helps.

FYI - The American Cemetery at Normandy package is one of the files which is still "missing" in the Avsim library - however it is available from Flightsim.com. The file name there is maamcmty.zipIt is a sobering reminder that Freedom is not Free.

"It should be close to these coordinates: N49 22.73 W0 54.58"OK, that did it. The ADF didn't work and there is no START flt that I can find in FS09. However, I was able to find the Cemetery by loading the coordinates into the map. Thanks for your help.Skypilot

If you added the Afcad which I mentioned in my previous post, there is a "start location" - look for ICAO code ACNF. The "Airport" name is American Cemetery Normandy. The ADF will only work if you have aforementioned Afcad installed.

So true OPA.....And it is something we should never forget....My dad and grandfather was in the marines....Grandpa was 1st division 3rd batalion WWII on guadalcanal. My dad was a marine pilot, sadly i wont be carying on the tradition. Me and my mom were in an auto accident, and i was left without the use of my legs, 5 yaers ago when i was 8. I find it so sad that so many have forgoten the price we paid in the wars for our freedom, and am sorry to see and hear about all the aircraft that have been and still are being destroyed, that took our family members to battle and brought them back....These planes and other vehicles are a part of history, and should be preserved for future generations....There are alot of planes that were destroyed after the wars, some of which you can only see in pictures. Like the buffalo. I dont know if any survived the war, Museums like the Planes of fame here in California, and MAAM. Do our country a great honor by preserving these great old war birds.... Some of us know what the colors of our flag stand for....But most dont see it.... I love our country and feel a great pride to be from such a great country, and i will never forget the price we have had to pay, for our freedom.. Amanda.
