Question about Stereoscopic 3D in FSX

Featured Replies

Im thinking about picking up a cheap pair of 3d glasses to use with FSX. I have an invidia card with latest drivers installed. I understand there is a setting in FSX to make it 3d. However, before I bother with this, does it work with an LCD monitor. I thought I ready somewhere you had to use a older CRT monitor. Also, for those who have tried it, is it any good?Rob

Hi - I believe the setting itself is within the nVidia UI, I tried it a couple of years ago and found the colors to be somewhat muted although I read a thread recently related to your topic where the user had set the display to color compensate the display and yes it does work with LCD.My overall impression was that it provided quite a bit of immersion into the sim and I quite liked it.

I use the "cheap" 3d glasses too and it works well with the latest Nvidia drivers. Even in daylight things look a little dark and sometimes it's difficult for me to read a gauge but the effect is great! It's worth the look and you won't be going into major debt with the cheap glasses. Within FSX, you can turn the 3d effect on and off by hitting the Ctrl-T keys so, if you have issues with 3d in a flight (or seeing some gauges like I do), you can turn it off temporarily and then back on.Best regards,Jim
