July 18, 201015 yr I have the 260 895mb. Wondering whether there would be a worthwhile gain in changing to the 460?Single monitor 21". FSX.

July 24, 201015 yr Hi,I just changed over from an XFX GTX 260 to a Gigabyte 460 (1gb). After 2-3 hours of flying and fiddling, I can't say it's all that exciting. Performance IS improved a bit at dense airports and cities and it's nice having a much smaller, more power efficient card. However, using the new 258.96 drivers the card is unable to make AA work except through the FSX/FS9 tick box. I have made attempts with NHancer, which does ostensibly function, however there is no AA in the sim. Also I tried Nick's profile import trick, but could not get that to work either. If anyone has any thoughts or ideas please chime in! I shall continue exploring...BTW, using Phenom II 955 @3.5GHz, 4gb RAM with Windows XP 32bit (yea, I know I should give it up, but cannot seem to. I am addicted to all the add-ons I've purchased and loathe the thought of redoing all that I have created.) cheers,Greg G i7-9700K, MSI Z370, PNY 4070 Super, GTX 750Ti, 32GB GSkill, 43" curved Samsung, 32" BenQ, 11" LED, RealSImGear GTN750, Win10, P3DV5.4/P3DV6 and MSFS, several GoFlight modules, Saitek radio, Brunner CLS-E NG Yoke, Virtual Fly TQ6.
July 24, 201015 yr Good news update: I was able to import Nick's profiles and enable AA/AF in hardware: Things are much improved, especially IQ. Looking better performance wise too, but I can't provide any numbers yet. Enroute BOS to PHX to test stability. Feeling better about the upgrade! cheers,Greg G i7-9700K, MSI Z370, PNY 4070 Super, GTX 750Ti, 32GB GSkill, 43" curved Samsung, 32" BenQ, 11" LED, RealSImGear GTN750, Win10, P3DV5.4/P3DV6 and MSFS, several GoFlight modules, Saitek radio, Brunner CLS-E NG Yoke, Virtual Fly TQ6.
July 25, 201015 yr After 10-12 hours worth of flying around and tweaking a little, here's my take on the upgrade from a GFX 260 896MB to a GFX 460 1GB.Significant improvement in heavy cloud situations. I flew through some weather with several cloud layers and the card never missed a beat. Moderate improvement in heavy scenery, as in JFK/NYC area (about 10%).Flew two flights with no issues>KBOS-KPHX (default 747) and KSBA-KSAN, the latter with Quality Wings 757 VC model. So what started out as being a questionable upgrade has evolved into a very satisfying one. Hope that is somewhat helpful to anyone wondering.Greg G i7-9700K, MSI Z370, PNY 4070 Super, GTX 750Ti, 32GB GSkill, 43" curved Samsung, 32" BenQ, 11" LED, RealSImGear GTN750, Win10, P3DV5.4/P3DV6 and MSFS, several GoFlight modules, Saitek radio, Brunner CLS-E NG Yoke, Virtual Fly TQ6.

I am pleased that the 460 GTX helped improve your flight experience. It will encourage others to upgrade who do not want to spend two or three times as much on more expensive cards like the 470 GTX and the 480 GTX. The 460 GTX certainly seems to win the biggst bang for the buck award, at almost any level.Kindest Regards,Stephen
July 25, 201015 yr Oops. Right: the GTX 460 I meant to say. Am curious what others are experiencing...cheers,Greg G i7-9700K, MSI Z370, PNY 4070 Super, GTX 750Ti, 32GB GSkill, 43" curved Samsung, 32" BenQ, 11" LED, RealSImGear GTN750, Win10, P3DV5.4/P3DV6 and MSFS, several GoFlight modules, Saitek radio, Brunner CLS-E NG Yoke, Virtual Fly TQ6.
July 26, 201015 yr Based on my experience I would never recomend anyone the 260 to 460 upgrade if you're only FSX, let alone 470-480. If any, the improvement is marginal
