Win XP 64

Featured Replies

Hi, I am about to upgrade my OS to Win XP 64 to utilize an 8GB RAM. Will it make a big difference with FS9, since I heard that FS9 doesn't utilize more than 2 GB?My current system:2.95 @2Nvidia 1GBRAM 4GBWin XP 32

No, it won't. I've been using xp64 for almost 2 years and actually yanked out 4 of the 8 gig of memory I started with many, many months ago (but I DO maintain 4 gig -- as kind of a security blanket). If you haven't already, save your money or spend it elsewhere on good addons.

I have no personal experience with 8 gb and FSX -- this is the FS2004 forum -- but from what I've read it probably is the same.

I've been running FS9 on Win 7 64 with zero problems (12 gigs ram).Don't forget that even though FS9 might not use more than 2gigs, the rest of your system will. I have Active Sky, Firefox, mail, etc when i run FS9...and all the extra RAM can be used to take care of those programs...-feng
