Wrong UK Call-signs

Featured Replies

HiI have been using Radar Contact 4.3 for about 2 months and love it. I use it with Ultimate Traffic 2 on FSX and for the most part it works great, but I really don't get why RC is getting some call signs wrong, for example RC calls all BMI aircraft "BRAVO" this includes Baby and regional. It also refers to all easyjet aircraft as "easyjet" when it should be just "easy". I also here lots of other stange callsigns over the UK with RC but have not yet pinned them down to an airline.any help would be welcome.

If you happen to have London Control - the UK ATC simulator (which is fantastic by the way) - then you can fairly easily find out what most of the callsigns common over the UK are, since it is of course based on realistic UK air traffic. Don't have to buy it (although you should!), you could use the demo, which can be found here: http://www.londoncontrol.com/index.htmAlternatively, there is a fairly comprehensive list of airline callsigns here, although not in very alphabetical order:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Airline_codes-AllAl

That software looks interesting, thanks. But the problem remains and I'm at a total loss with this one. I've checked the UT2 aircraft files and they are correct, I've found the correct wave files in RC and the info in the RC C4 file is also correct, so why RC gets it wrong is beyond me.I wonder if the call sign "BRAVO" is some kind of default for RC when it doesn't know what its doing, does anyone know if it is?

It will probably be the Config file for aircraft not having a correct callsign listed for that a paint job.Al

if you are referring to the UT2 aircraft file, I have checked and they are fine and FSX ATC names them correctly.

.If you hear RC calling an AI "Bravo" it almost certainly means the callsign starts with a 'B', but the callsign hadn't been recorded for v4.In v5 a LOT of work has been done to correct and include more callsigns. So I suspect most of the problems you describe will be a thing of the past. We also developed a new system in v5 which will look for variations and match up callsigns with a higher accuracy. There was a thread in this forum a while back concerning UT2 and RC's ability to match the callsigns correctly. If you think there is a repeatable issue you have with particular callsigns, make a log and send it to jd. He can then attempt to have a look at exactly what is going on, and why something was called something.Hope this helps,Subs
